Quinn Hughes To Minnesota Wild | NJ Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald Comes In Second AGAIN

New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald can’t seem to close the big deal.

The NJ Devils were heavily tied to Vancouver Canucks star defenseman Quinn Hughes for quite some time now.

Fitz does what Fitz does best. He came in second.

The Minnesota Wild swoop in and get Quinn, ending the dream of uniting him with his brothers Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes in New Jersey.

What a wild, wild turn of events here.

The Minnesota Wild are sending the Vancouver Canucks Marco Rossi, Zeev Buium, Liam Ohgren, and a 1st Round Pick.

Billy Guerin (former NJ Devil) realllllly surprised everyone here.

  1. Another 2nd place Tom special….. absolutely done with this team until hes gone. I'll check the scores and hope they keep losing until Fitz is gone.

  2. When I got the notification, I thought it was a troll. Rossi, Buium(is a -9 on a +7 team) Ohgren (0 pts 18 games) and a 1st is all it took. Allvin should have flushed the phone down the toilet and blocked the number and asked for a restraining order. Every single team in the NHL could have made a better offer for the second best d ma in the nhl in his prime.

  3. I think all parties realize it’s a rental . Minnesota already has a record contract with Kaprizov , they won’t sign another one . Not very smart to invest so much in two players , ask Edmonton . It makes this trade even gutsier “win now” move . “Now” means this season and the next . Kudos to Bill Guerin .

  4. I mean .. not overly surprised. Not like he could fix this team alone. Outside chance he signs extension and Jack goes to MIN when RA

  5. Jason robertson is very good player as is Jordan kyrou and Tage thompson all excellent players that would be great here but reality we have boozeface and the corporation ownership dont see it happening its just unfortunate

  6. Talk about a blockbuster. I said it during the live show, and I’m going to say it again: the Wild offered Vancouver a good package that I don’t necessarily believe we could have topped. I strongly think the Canucks wanted Hischier or Bratt along with Nemo and others in order to make a trade work. If that was the case, I’ll give Fitzy a pass. I personally believe Quinn to Minnesota isn’t a bad in terms of him playing here. As of right now, there is no extension in place, and Quinn has not said anything about whether or not he’d sign there long term. Other teams did make it clear that they would trade for Quinn despite no long-term contract being in place. The Canucks only traded him because they were the highest bidder. Minnesota had to make that trade for the sake of making some noise since they’ve always kind of been lurking around in the shadows as opposed to being in the fight. They made a splash by signing Kaprizov to a massive contract, and this was their next bold move to get people looking at them; and, to put the Avs and Stars on notice in a tight central division. Despite Minnesota having a ton of cap space once Quinn’s contract is up, I personally don’t believe he’ll sign long term there. His wishes are to play with his brothers. Who knows what the Wild will look like down the road anyways?! I mean, we know what a John Hynes team can look like. Hope we get the W tomorrow vs the Dux. LGD 😈

  7. Ducks and canucks up next really want to see guys mental state considering every going on right now coupled with how bad we have been at home and injuries and other weird things plus day games. i just hope we dont get swept on another hometsand. Please guys turn the narrative winning always can change the vibes . 🙏 all we can do is root on our team. Even though our gm and owners stink

  8. Minnesota as ive mentioned before one of the best barns to watch a game at. Devils play very well there. Tons of devils fams as well. Game their even more juicy this year now up there.. will be sell out for sure

  9. Brayden schenn a name being linked but far from who i would like but this team needs to make a move badly.. and mikael backlund from flames. Are these the guys that fitz tries and target..

  10. Im one of these diehards that turns off notifications and literally will watch every game even if on replay from streaming like espn plus ➕️ only to constantly have some of late nights ruined by this on ice product. I wont miss anything from this team actuon wise but im questioning why but i know why thats what makes it so darn difficult

  11. I don’t blame Fitz in this particular case . Probably Vancouver expected kings ransom from us . Fitz refused so they went with the next highest bidder . What I can’t forgive is Marky’s extension but I will if Fitz finds the way to move that contract and Dougie’s . I’m relatively ok with Palat’s . He is absent from the scoreboard and overpaid but he is a hard worker and board grinder . Teams need players like that .

  12. Doug Armstrong may be a gm that is looking to deal particularly if blues sink as year moves on. I just have a fear we are sellers but hope i am dead wrong. We need to win games. I cannot stand boozeface. Kelly mckrimmond is a gm i wish we had here so may of gms out there are just way better than ours..

  13. I don’t believe the Devils did not need a Quinn Hughes because they didn’t need another offensive defenseman. One of the reasons they’re suffering so much with Jack out is he shouldered most of their important zone entries. Quinn can do that, but from the D side, which is actually better. Also, imagine Quinn and Jack on the ice at the same time. The Devils would never not have the puck.

  14. Idk if Quinn was a done deal or even something to give anything up for at this point but it sucks that we can’t have something cool happen.

If he can’t fix this roster quickly and punts on this season…I really feel like we’ll be in a similar situation with Nico except he has trade protections.

Really need someone more ruthless and cunning to take the reigns in this organization

  15. Would you have traded Holtz, Silayev, a prospect and a 1st for Quinn Hughes? Drafting matters. Of course, we didn’t have the cap space anyway, but just saying, we are a dumpster fire in large part bc of fitz’s horrible drafting and a lack of organizational depth.

  16. Tom "always a bridesmaid" Fitzgerald does it again 😑

It's probably for the best right now, anyway – we have bigger pressing problems to focus on. It might not be our last bite at the apple with Quinn either… we get to revisit this again as soon as this summer if he's not willing to sign an extension. I'm sure Minny would be open to talking 'sign and trade' with NJD to recoup some assets if that comes to pass. I really hope Tom gets his shit together, though. He's made a mess with NMCs on our team and player redundancies. LGD.
