You could really see the missing of Forrester and York
Haven't commented before bc flyers fans can be intimidating but talking about what Quinn Hughes can bring to the team just makes me think about how tilted the ice felt in that game where andrae got a few points – if we had a dman like that reliably??? (I'm a HUGE fan of Quinn Hughes, if we had skaters like him and Drysdale? We'd be straight up distracting with the beautiful skating) And I really think the connections in philly have to be a huge draw to Hughes
I really anticipated Vladar getting the Colorado game & Ersson vs San Jose.
Ersson made some good saves but needed more (goals 1 & 2) were stoppable.
Anyway, onward & hopefully the Flyers can continue to add points before the holiday break.
Mondays w Meltzer is the best way to start my week!
On trading for QH…I think that he is either going to NJ or back home to Michigan. I would trade Nesbitt (who I am real big on), York and future number ones for him but only if we know that we can sign him. But many teams would offer similar and that's where (bidding war) Vancouver could recoup bank for QH43. Eichel's trade is a bad comp because Quinn isn't facing experimental spine surgery at the time of his trade. 20% chance
On the other very interesting topic of Danny's development plan for our prospects… I am all for guys assuming their projected NHL roles in AHL for a bit to rev up their pro games at a controlled pace. Years from now, we will be talking about how Alex Bump not making the Flyers out of camp was the best thing to happen to him/the Flyers.
That also goes for the college guys. An extra year in the NCAA is rarely a bad thing. Because of the Cutter mess, Martone is going to be here in April. But the thing with the Cutter fiasco is that Danny and the Flyers were actually right. Gauthier benefitted greatly because of that second year at BC. Players just get stronger physically in college hockey.
As the game went along Colorado got tired, that’s the only reason the flyers looked like they defended better. This game was lost in the first period.’ Only 3 shots on goal in the first is a joke! If McKinnon had 9 shots on goal do you think he would have scored only 1 goal??
So The Flyers aren't as good as The Best Team in the League. Bummer.
Speaking of passengers, did Michkov play yesterday?
I'll be curious to see if the Flyers are willing to break up the friend group of Zegras, Drysdale and York if the opportunity presented itself in a Hughes trade. It feels like that group is becoming a core part of our identity in the locker room. Adding Hughes, who is already friends with them, feels like such a perfect fit. But then we start getting into a silly amount of "untouchables" in a trade for Hughes. I completely agree about the Eichel trade being the comparable and hope we can get it done with a similar offer but I understand you gotta give up someone you like in this situation.
Why cant they actually tell us what Tyson forrester injury actually is instead of the BS upper body or lower bodyn injury
Hope all is well gentlemen. If I'm Danny, there is no way I'm trading Nesbitt over Luchanko, if I don't HAVE to. Why would you? Jack projects to be the more impactful player long-term, and has something you can't teach, SIZE! I hope I am wrong, but I see nothing special to Luchanko other than his skating and defensive play. In my view, he's easily the most expendable "high-end" prospect we have.
While everyone is salivating over Hughes, take a look at how many clips there are online of his poor defensive play at times and hustle. Yes the man is a complete dynamo, but I worry about his defensive game in a 7-game series, as a small D, as the number one guy. Crazy pivot…while Danny has been playing the phones, the real targets are Tage Thompson and Owen Power 😮 Buffalo is really running out of time, and Owen could be salvaged easily I think, and again, they both have that sexy size we've been crazing as Flyers fans.
Let me ask you this Jason, you can have Hughes, or Thompson/Power? I know the trade I'd try and swing if I'm Danny 😅
Does anyone think Danny drafted Nesbit. Because The Canucks liked him?
Take Quinn Hughes alllll day!! No Martone or Michkov in the deal but offer players, picks and the Rocky Statue if that's what it takes. He's the guy! Competing against his brothers in a divisional rivalry makes it even more exciting as a fan. Not just those 2 teams cities, but for the entire league. $$.
Emil was a revelation this game.
2026 first, 2027 (Torontos ) first , Luchanko, Tippy……. Bonk
Got to give to get…..
Not just the talent; the experience.
