A „QuadGod” újra lecsapott: Ilia Malinin szombaton Nagoyában, az ISU Grand Prix döntőjében hihetetlen teljesítményével megszerezte sorozatban harmadik aranyát, de ez mind semmi: rekord pontszámot ért el a kűrjével.

A kétszeres világbajnok hét négyfordulatos ugrást hajtott végre, köztük egy kvadra Axelt, amelyet még mindig ő az egyetlen, aki képes volt megugrani hivatalos versenyen. Malinin 238,24 ponttal megdöntötte saját rekordját a szabad programban, és 332,29 ponttal, 30 pontos előnnyel nyert összesítésben.

    Ele é um patinador impecável, mas, felizmente, ele tem a sorte de ser um homem branco, disputando pelos EUA. Por que? Porque, tempos atrás, uma jovem negra, disputando pela França, ao realizar o mesmo salto – numa perna só, pois tinha uma contusão no tendão de Aquiles da outra perna – não foi aclamada, mas PUNIDA pelos "nobres" jurados.
    Se esse rapaz fosse negro e/ou disputando por algum país "menor", os jurados teriam encontrado "erros" em sua apresentação…
    Como já disse, ainda bem que Ilia Malinin – além de um homem branco – está a disputar por um país que "tem de vencer", "precisa vencer" para esfregar no focinho do mundo que é a Super Mega Hiper Potência Mundial…

    It's strange at 3:27 I was like "I love it when the skaters do that hand thing" But then he did it a second time with his head up like "Oh something big's coming." I know that he is capable of the backflip, but his previous movements were so beautiful that I genuinely forgot about it for a moment, I was caught off guard.

    Incredible athleticism but also artistry! The style is very Russian until the end when I got flashbacks from French figure skating
