  1. Dryden did not play 10 years, the 70s Canadiens won 4 straight to close out the decade, and Dryden was not drafted by Montreal. Adam got three things wrong in the span of 11 seconds

  2. Ken Dryden did have a brother, his brother Dave. A capable starting goalie in the 70s, never the greatest goalie but a fine goalie.

  3. Those EBUG rules are very odd, it's like they want it to be a punishment to the team or something. Maybe the league just needs to add a third slot for goalies.

  4. I think Ebug goalie can play more than once since they probably didnt play an NHL game under an SPC. Just guessing. Practice squad is the way to go.

  5. I'm assuming clowe just wanted to be back on the east coast for his family, but I really thought something was wrong when that was posted

  6. you guys should do a segment "things we forgot happened after the stanley cup was awarded" or "oh yeah" – a la coach Q, John Klingberg etc.

  7. I really enjoy you guys talking Canadiens I know it’s a leafs podcast but I really appreciate it, hoping you guys talk more about them now that they’re getting better

  8. I took French my whole time in school and I don’t use it much anymore so I watch Habs games in French to keep up with my French I hope it continues

  9. I think the goalie requirements are just so that you don't get too ambitious with cap circumvention or loopholes on backup goalies.

Now whether or not that's a legitimate concern or not is a different discussion of course.

  10. I’d be curious to know the answer as well … but I think the issue with NBA/NHL is that often times they are sharing the arena + they have concerts and other events to book… baseball stadiums are just for baseball … so I think the issue is scheduling as per why the NBA and NHL don’t do series during the regular season. But who knows.

  11. EBug: emergency back-up goaltender. They aren’t suppose to play and are only used in extremely rare situations. It isn’t how an organization develops a player.

Ideally, if a goalie gets injured. The team recalls one from the minors.

You can blame Toronto for this new rule and them trying to loophole their way to benching one during a game to save cap space.

  12. If the income derived from the duration of your "professional career" to date is LESS THAN a single year at the NHL league minimum salary over your lifetime, you SHOULD be able to play.

Brock Lesnar was named in a sex trafficking scandal involving Janel Grant and Vince McMahon…

  13. Haha regarding EBUGs – I have a signed Justin Pogge photograph in my hockey room. I wonder if he still has the chops?

  14. Lol talking about how to talk about talking about Mcdavid instead of doing questions that’s been a teased segment that hasn’t really happened yet since returning 😅

  15. I've got a Dryden story my Dad told me. He's always maintained it was true, but..my Dad's a bit of a brat. It could be true, and it's a good story either way.

    -=-=-=-=-

My Dad worked as a purchaser for a mine in the 70s in Montreal. Million dollar parts, so there was a lot of money involved. For my Dad, the occasional hockey ticket for himself or a friend was his limit on what he'd accept; he never work clothes from a company or anything like that, because he felt it would be disrespectful to the competitor if they came in. But sometimes, it wasn't going to be much of the game in the midweek (Montreal against the Golden Seals or something, basically a squash match), so he'd give the tickets to the doorman at his apartment in Place Ville-Marie.

Anyway, one day, he comes home from work (OK, probably the bar, knowing my Dad at that age) and the doorman is talking to someone and points him out. Dad recognised the guy as Ken Dryden, who he knew lived in the building somewhere at the time. Dryden came up to my Dad and said that the doorman said he was always getting tickets from him, so he asked him where he got them from. Dad explained his job, and said the suppliers had tickets, and he got them some times.

Ken Dryden explained the he had a bunch of family coming in, like 20 people, and he couldn't get enough tickets from the Canadiens for them all, and if there was any way my Dad could get him some extra tickets because the team was too cheap about it..

"Uh, sure Ken, I can arrange that for you."

Anyway, he talked to his suppliers, and told them who the tickets were for, and there was no problem about that one, for sure, and all of Dryden's extended family had a seat that night…

  16. Adam’s comment about finding out what niche jerseys people have really has me intrigued.

I’m Scottish and watch hockey in Scotland and I’ve got a game-worn jersey from a player who played one season pro and it was in the EIHL, and the team only wore the jersey in September and half of October because one of the sponsors complained about the orientation of their logo on the jerseys when they saw it on the ice.

  17. I have a game worn Colorado Avalanche jersey of Steffon Walby. He played with a couple different teams, but mostly cups of coffee. I got it because he was a year behind me at Edgewood High school in Madison, Wisconsin. That was a very cool jersey for me because of that connection, but also the Avs are my favorite NHL team. Will never sell it!

  18. Ken Dryden’s career reads like a NHL Be a Pro career. On Rookie settings.

Rarely loses, multiple Stanley Cups, retires before a decade.

Right when the next years video game comes out…

  19. Apparently the median age of a WWE fan is 54. That's why it's a never-ending cycle. They want to make new stars but can't, so younger audiences won't watch, and if they let the old guard go, the old folks are gonna stop watching. That's why you have Goldberg for the 1 000th time and Brock Lesnar. You know how in the 2000s you had world champions that were like 25-30 years old? Like Lesnar, Orton, Cena. Yeah most of stars are like 35-45 now. Seth Rollins is almost 40, Roman Reigns is 40, John Cena will be 50 soon. I don't remember the last time the WWE championship was held by someone in his 20s.

  20. Those EBUG rules are so dumb. And completely unnecessarily. The possibility of having retired legends like Fleury there, if they wanted to do it, would be such a cool thing. Too cool for NHL I guess…
