Even for a team in rebuilding mode, trading away Quinn Hughes would be the dumbest thing ever. For that reason, the Canucks management will almost certainly do it.
At this point, as a die hard Canucks fan since 1990, I've seen Pavel Bure, Trevor Linden, Kirk McLean and before that I was aware of the Cam Neely all getting moved out of Vancouver for a less than perfect return. These kids will get over Hughes just like I had to get over some of the greats. All I care about is that they get the best return for him (whether that's New Jersey or not) because he had no trade protection, and kick start a rebuild they should have done 12 years ago. I don't blame management for any of this. They have their orders from ownership and it must have been like pulling teeth to convince them to let Miller go. I'm sure management has tried to talk Aquilini multiple times into a rebuild, but this is an owner who won't even pay for a practice facility. How do you stay sharp if you have nowhere to practice?
People need to stop making up scenarios where players have a NMC, completely unrealistic to expect anyone would waive their no move to come to Vancouver atm.
Idk why you'd trade a talent like that unless you were fully rebuilding
Aquilini must be making money in spite of the Canucks' lack of success. Hate that ownership. Want to love the team, but just not going to happen. Love the players, eff the owner.
celey and hughes would win many many cups together :"D
If you put Makar on the Nucks and Quinn on the Avalanche….Who would be the #1?
As a San Jose fan, HELL NO. YOU STAY AWAY FROM MISA
The better comparable for a trade is the Erik karlsson trade from Ottawa to San Jose. Can't let go of Quinn for any less
As a Canucks fan the only change I want is with the ownership, which we all know won't happen, so it's just depressing.
Like even if a lot of the things I want to change happened WITH this ownership (actual practice facility, less meddling, etc.) I don't trust them to properly rebuild the team or shepherd a successful re-tool even if we managed to keep Hughes at this point.
Like if all things went well and this whole franchise turned around with Aquilini still owning the team we'd be, what, a second-round team? Maybe conference finals if we got really lucky? And that's if everything went perfectly.
This is the situation we're in and he's talking about re-tooling to stay competitive. He's so out of touch, and he's embarrassing for this entire city.
We need Aquilini gone if we're ever going to feel competitive again.
ALSO: outside of a few teams I would just refuse to wear the jersey of, I'd support Hughes almost anywhere he goes. He's such a stud and seems like a really great guy. He's given so much for this team and this city, and I'll be backing him any time he's not playing for the US national team lol.
Why would you trade your team away for a guy that signs with the devils in 2 years
The Canucks will do something stupid like trade Hughes and keep EP40. I can already feel another 10 years of no playoffs in their future. This sucks.
WOOOOOOO HALIFAX
As a Hurricanes fan, I would LOVE to get Quinn Hughes!
Quinn Hughes has peak value at trade deadline because of better health certainty in a playoff run. Pre olympics is sketch for buyers.
Evan Bouchard for Quinn Hughes
You trade Quinn, you trade him now, you retain max on him for the season and a half, you find a team to absolutely fleece, and you commit to a rebuild. We're so tired of the damn re-tools, just do the proper rebuild already. And Aqua can keep his damn fingers out of things already. A lot of Canuck fans can see we've frittered away this core. Enough with kicking the can through another "re-tool" or "on the fly" platitude that ownership and management keeps throwing us every year.
haha quinn hughes arent getting nemec…. they are getting a bunch of picks and prospects
San Jose is willing to wait on developing Sam Dickinson
F D. Mercer
D Nemec
D Kovacevic (to make $ work)
2026 1st
2027 1st
In exchange for
D Q. Hughes
"Bottom One" – Thank you!
I’m 38 and have only ever watch Canucks through highs and lows. I’ve never jumped on another bandwagon in that time. That being said, if Quinn is traded I may pick another teams jersey for the first time.
Issue is you can’t trade the farm unless you know he will re-sign. He can’t re-sign until the summer and everything thinks he’s going to the Devils.
Imagine trading bo horvat cause you chose to commit to JT miller and now you don’t have either of them
Nemec, Mercer, high prospect 1st in 26 and maybe a 1st in 27 for Hughes
Hughes going to Carolina would block his offensive potential. Brind Armour only likes defensive hockey.
3 red flags in the offseason which i knew would make this year a shitshow: 1. tocchet walks, 2. demko extended, and 3. not making malholtra the coach.
If VAN is trading Hughes, why would they want Hamilton and Mercer?? I think Nemec ++ is the starting price.
You guys TOTALLY MISSED that the organization has extra leverage on Quinn Hughes because of the new CBA agreement
Thank you for hitting the nail right in the head. The Canucks ownership is by far the worst in the entire NHL
imo chicago is an ideal landing spot for hughes. the hawks have the picks, prospects, and cap space.
