The rumors surrounding Vancouver Canucks superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes being traded to the New Jersey Devils are really heating up!
Elliotte Friedman confirmed that the NJ Devils and Canucks have spoke about this recently. You will see the brief clip here, as well as a clip of Quinn being asked about it after a recent game.
It seems like it’s only a matter of time before a deal is done.
Quinn Hughes will be joining his brothers Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes in New Jersey soon enough…

I think this fanbase can play nieve all they want but if Quinn Hughes is getting dealt to New Jersey there will be some sting to see going back the other way. I can't see this trade made without it including Dougie for cap purposes but I could also see any of Nemec, Gritsyuk, or Silayev included in the deal along with 1 or even 2 first round picks. It will hurt but Quinn will be worth it. He is an enormous upgrade from Dougie. The PP will look completely disgusting being QB'd by Quinn and a "healthy" Jack.
Wonder if the Hughes Corporation is hiring and if health insurance is included. : )
No Jack and Luke are going to be traded to Vancouver as they should. Follow their super star brother, that's the way to do it. Can't wait for that trade next year.

That's my only concern, what does he get out of this because i feel like there is more happening behind the scenes and curtains that we aren't noticing. If I was in Quinn’s shoes I would ask my agent to contact Florida . That would be very attractive destination in every sense and a chance to save their season and possibly win the cup if not this , but next season . Devils are not going anywhere in every sense too 🙁

I dont really know much about Quinn’s personality but I could see this all being pretty annoying, especially since Rutherford kicked this off.
Assuming he did express that to them and management blew it up. So assuming he does want to play with his brothers and likely is over the situation with the canucks org…
Why would he want to go to detroit or Philadelphia? And why would those teams give up big assets for a rental if it could hurt them in two years?
Seems to me the devils giving a decent haul for him is the best possible option for everyone. He will likely be here anyway, so the longer they wait the less they likely get. If its a rebuild its probably picks and nemec and casey, maybe a Mercer but idk if that makes sense. If they take dougie they replace the 1st pairing RD for a couple years. Nemec takes overs. Casey gets to play in a better farm team.
Id love to get a sherwood and/or a kane additionally if we wanna get nuts.
I think fitz needs to pull the trigger as quickly as possible.
I hope we can keep nemec (right for a lefty) and I hope the rental price is too high for the other teams.

NJD: Hamilton, Casey (and/or Edwards) and a 1st OR 2nd
VAN: Hughes, Blueger
I think this would be fair – Hamilton can anchor a rookie blueline while they rebuild – they get a decent defensive prospect that will be ready to start a rebuild and they get a nice pick. The Devils get Hughes and a depth center with a decent FO%.
The trade I actually want to see is this though:
NJD: Palat, Glendenning, Parent OR Hardman, 2nd Rounder.
NAS: RoR, Bunting, Svechkov

Love this channel, recently discovered the chat during games. I didn't think there was a chance we weren't getting Quinn, especially since he comes here in the summer and trains with his brothers and some of our skills coaches.
Dougie, Mercer (sadly), Casey, Palat, Nemec (hopefully not), Daws are all trade susceptible. I didn't think l believe sending Bratt, Nico, Timo away for ANY trade for Quinn would make this team better. We need offensive depth and losing them would leave a huge hole.
When Quinn inadvertently refers to Fitzy as boozeface in an interview, we'll know the trade talks went south.
I think a package of Siegenthaler, Casey, Dawes a 1st and maybe a lower pick would be enough. Van gets a solid D on a great contract a young promising D prospect in Casey. A young goalie in Dawes which they don't have. I think Dougie gets moved to another team that needs a right shot d that can run a PP. Palat also needs to go for whatever we can get to help with our cap situation.

I believe Markstrom will "snap out of it". We really need to stop focusing on his failures and work on getting him 2-3 goals so he can play with confidence.
Free cap space. Ryan O'Reilly is really important. Stamkos could be something special on Jack's left wing. I am willing to wait 2 years for Quinn so we don't overspend.
Quinn is valuable right now, but our needs for a scoring first line wing and a 3C are much greater then geting Quinn to play "big brother" to Luke and Nemec.
As much as I don't want to see Nemec in a trade package, I just can't see a deal of this magnitude not involving him. I think the Nemec, Mercer, 1st deal is pretty likely to be what gets the job done unless Fitz can put Dougie in Nemo's place. That's only going to happen if other teams don't put out an offer better than that where there's no choice but to put Nemo in the offer.
That said, if the result is Quinn playing for NJ, the deal is worth it. They would be getting back a young, proven superstar whose impact on this team would be massive. We just have to bite the bullet and accept that we aren't likely to pull off a heist here. I also still believe, as I'm sure you do, that there needs to be another move made to secure a solid 3C and/or scoring winger to get goals in the net. I think we'll see moves happen by the end of January because Fitz should not want to wait much longer and risk Vancouver fielding more attractive offers.

Devils D core is good — if battered. I think you guys need forward depth so the inevitable Jack injury doesn’t sink the season every year.
I still think Quinn is in Jersey regardless, but I think it’s not necessary for NJ.
Quinn will be here in 2 years for free. Picks and prospects should be used on a top 6 LW and 3C as any GM with half a brain would do.

I'm a devil's fan. Ifi had to guess a quinn package for this season, I hope we could get a better package, but something like Doughie, Brett and 2 first round picks. Wouldn't want to let these two go, but obviously we would be needing a lot to get the canucks in on this

Apologies if this has been said already as I watch when I can. The core has failed us 3 times when Jack is out. As much as it pains me to say this, Bratt and Nico are on the table for this trade. I'm also sad to say it's necessary to shake this team up. You yourself pointed out, 1 playoff series with Nico and Bratt. Thoughts? God bless brother and great job doing all these videos.
