Do the Toronto Maple Leafs need to consider a trade for a goalie? Lightning up next

The Toronto Maple Leafs face a critical test as injuries to Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz add pressure to their goaltending depth. Can Dennis Hildeby anchor the net and keep the Leafs in contention? Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti break down the gritty overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens, Scott Laughton’s old-time breakaway clapper, and other notable positives but also raise questions about the Leafs offensive execution. With the uncertainty around the health of the Leafs’ goaltending, Mike and Dave wonder if they should look at veteran options. The hosts preview a pivotal Atlantic Division clash against the depleted Tampa Bay Lightning and debate whether the Leafs can capitalize on a shorthanded rival.

  1. If Hildeby proves to be durable and continues to prove he's confident while llaying awesome, as he is, we should be. Stollie and Woll can fight for #2 and we could potentially trade one of them. IDK the return since the whole league knows they're both fragile…

  2. In response to the question that forms the title of this episode of the Locked On Leafs podcast, it’s hard to know whether the Hildeby-Akhtyamov duo will hold the fort while Woll & Stolarz remain out due to injury.

  3. It is not the goalies. Try looking at the players on the ice who do nothing to protect the goalie you fool.

  4. TOR needs to trade Stolarz , he is great when he plays but has been injured way too much.
They also REALLY need an actual tough guy that can fight and is NOT a liability on the ice.
And a steady stay at home right defense that is physical , Carlo is not it , trade him ASAP when he is healthy.

  5. Even in OT Willy had a couple chances to go around his guy and take it to the net, but he just didn't have the jump that were use to seeing from him. Hopefully whatever he's dealing with doesn't last too long.
Also, I would trade any goalies with their injury history as it is. They are all good goalies, but never healthy at the same time.
Unless they can put their bad injury luck behind them, I wouldn't even dream of trading one of them. Maybe in the offseason, but definitely not now.

  6. Go with the Hildebeast. Keep him away from the media, he’s a mumbling, dopey, car crash in the post game pressor’s. Time to move away from Stolarz . Trade the bum. Big concerns with Woll too. He has definitely got some issues between the ears.

Now the podcast, good job boys. Having said that, Mike needs to learn to listen more. He listens to respond. Would like to hear more of what David thinks too.

This team will be lucky to get a wild card spot. Disappointed. Go leafs Go. Cheers 😎
