Yes: he has one of the most definitive jabs among the pantheon of boxing greats–for sure, but, you are wrong in your technical assessment of Holmes' jabbing style. He DID NOT throw a power jab; his was an open fist that he halfclosed on impact. As he himself has explained in numerous interviews, his intention was to beat the other man to the punch, so he wanted his jab to get there as quickly as possible. This, of course, cannot be accomplished with a closed fist or tense musculature; it must be whipped out.
And that was the strength of his telltale punch: its whipping effect. Not a shotgun jab, like Marvelous Marvin Hagler's or Ike Quartey's, but, rather, a quick sharp snapping whip of a jab, which, from his elongated frame and lead hand, made for an especiallly effective weapon.
Yeah, he really did. He could flick it with great speed from down low, power it in like a piston from low or high and even almost jab like a hook in a 1-2-3 combination like a lot of european fighters did. He had the best of alis jab and foremans power jab. Lennox lewis was probably the closest second.
Let me tell u again Ali had the best Jab in history that first Ali Frazier fight, the Ali lost that Jab put Frazier in the hospital two weeks and the thrilla on Manila Ali jab was the reason they stop the fight causd Frazier couldn't see that Ali Jab closed his eyes, it's ok Holmes was that dude yaw just need a reality check, ok now stop it
Larry Holmes' jab was the best, period, end of story. Other great jabs at heavyweight: George Foreman, Sonny Liston, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno, Hasim Rahman, Pinklon Thomas, Michael Moorer, and Muhammad Ali.

His jab was out cold man😂😂❤❤😅
I think Ali's jab a pretty damn hard to beat, not to mention Larry learned it from Ali, so I disagree with you it's not the greatest in history.
Holmes had an excellent job but I would say the Hitman hearns had the greatest jab holmes in second place
Larry doesn't get the respect he deserves his jab was the best in business by far and he was a great champion
Larry was good.. Really good… he was never appreciated
Who’d he drop with the jab in this clip???!
WHO DID HE KO WITH HIS JAB?
Mike weaver and BoneCrusher Smith real close…
Yes, Larry's jab was debillitating to his apponents, and it was sweet!
Ali had the best jab in between boxing it would cut like a razor ok get it right, and u talked like Ali didn't exist stop it
Go look at the first Liston Clayfight ask Floyd Patterson

He's GOAT
Yes his jab was the best
I beat all day dudes in undisputed ps5 pro online matches whith Larry Holmes ,he have also the best stamina
Holmes used the Ali style jab (2nd best jab ever) but just had more sting to it. His jab was powerful than most HW’s power shot
Larry probably has the 3rd hardest jab in all of boxer, probably behind foreman and Liston
PISTON JAB
Larry has the best jab. Lennox had an awesome jab as well IMO the best since Larry.
Holmes had an amazing Jab. The snap he had on it continually snapped opponents heads back
Larry Holmes' jab was the best, period, end of story. Other great jabs at heavyweight: George Foreman, Sonny Liston, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno, Hasim Rahman, Pinklon Thomas, Michael Moorer, and Muhammad Ali.
Indeed best jab
Ali had the greatest Jab. Holmes is #2. He stole Ali’s style and the student can’t surpass the master
Next to, ALI, YES !!!
Whiterspoon said Carl Williams jab was better but Tim was out of his prime.
💯%
Lewis also used his jab to hurt
Holmes jabs was ineffective if he met joe fraizer in his prime
And shaver will be demolished by joe fraizer in 5 rounds
Ppl who don’t fight thinking a jab is weak yeah get in front of the right mf that jab will give you whiplash
Overrated jab. Did he ever completely knockout an opponent in the ring during a championship fight in the ring? That's what l think!
How was he able to make his flicking jab so powerfull?
Best jab in history … yeah I can agree to that. In heavyweight for sure
Sonny Liston VS Larry Holmes
He does. Intelligent boxer.
Out of Heavyweights? Top 3
– Lennox Lewis
– Larry Holmes
– Sonny Liston
Take your pick on order.
