  1. 23 games in, I think we can assume that it's no longer "bad luck". Or, it's not a bug it's a feature.

EDIT: No accountability and an overreliance on vets? It's like Drury is cut from the same cloth as Bill Guerin.

  2. Lazy Laffy is a THIEF!!…I have NEVER seen a guy sign a multi-million dollar contract and disappear like this guy!!…What a heist!!…He should be brought up on charges!!

  3. After five seasons now six, it’s safe to assume Lafreniere will never live up to a number 1 pick. When you look at Celebrini, Bedard and Hughes, you can see they are game changers. Alexis is not….

  4. Why never discuss the worst oroblrm. Fox Fox Fox he is a deadweight they’ll never be able to compete in today’s NHL with the slowest guy on the ice as there number 1 d

  5. Metrics don't show up on the scoresheet – really the stat that ultimately matters.
Unknown why the Rangers have never given Laffy the sabbatical Igor has had, away from the games, to work with special coaches -and maybe a sports psychiatrist.
Unknown why they don't try a Kids Line.
Unknown why they don't call up Chmelar and Mackey for some grit, hitting, fighting. Nobody fears playing in MSG – in fact poor teams and slumping players see it as an opportunity.

  6. Let's not forget JT Miller is going to be 33 at the end of the season. His point per game days may be behind him. Especially if injuries are starting to slow him down.

  7. This team needs to be gutted like a fish starting with the head .Drury and Sullivan need to go . There is a major lack of discipline. Very little energy. Looks alot like how they ended last season. I have always been against females being involved in the NHL ,except for interviewing. But they should offer the chick in seatle a head coaching job .she cant do any worse than whats going on now .no more excuses

  8. I occasionally sent Larry Brooks emails regarding the Rangers or other NHL issues.
    He always responded pretty quickly.
There is a huge void in the New York hockey world without him.
All the knowledge of hockey he possessed is gone forever.
    Boy do we miss him.
He loved the players and the game.

  9. What could have been metrics are fugazi. It's like a night of P Hub and some lotion, then the next day telling your boys you got some…
Goals help win games. Anything else is just a bunch of blah…blah…

  10. At least he is getting chances more than I can say for the over priced old f*kers like Mika, Panarin and Miller. who are all over paid and underperforming. So let me get this straight the other players made unreal plays and its his fault the puck didnt go in. You realize they are playing against other NHL players right not some Mite team

  11. Larry Brooks

I know we have cracked a lot of jokes about Larry Brooks here over the years, mostly in good fun, but man this one hit me pretty hard this morning and brought me to tears. I was in the 5th grade when I started regularly reading Larry’s Slap Shots column. I used to go to the deli down the block from my school in north jersey after the bell rang to grab a copy of the post (and a Yoo-Hoo) and see if he’d written anything that day. Then later that night my dad, brothers, and I would discuss his opinions along with the state of the Rangers and all the local teams, trade rumors, standings, etc, way back when the Hartford Whalers were still around.

Over the years I met Larry a few times at the Garden. He was always gracious and engaging. I’ll never forget the night in early 2002, when Mike Richter took a slap shot to the helmet off the stick of Chris Tamer early in the game and left with a concussion and a fractured skull. I bumped into LB after the first period and asked him if he had any info on Richter. The look of concern on his face and trembling in his voice was genuine, then he told me that he was headed down to the Rangers tunnel/dressing room area to see if he could check on his friend and make sure he was going to be ok.

Larry was a good guy. A family guy. And in his prime he was a hell of a damn good sports writer who told it exactly the way he saw and felt it. And that’s all any reader could ask for. He definitely deserves his spot in the hall of fame. This certainly feels like the end of an era in NY sports coverage, and a strong reminder of our mortality boys and girls. Life in this world is short. Stay healthy my friends.

Rest well, Uncle Larry. You’ll be missed

  12. Laffy is a laugher he’s like a person with cataract. He tries to do without a plan of how to. Maybe if he slowed down and focused he would do better but in reality his chances are EXPIRED.

  13. Whom ever said that about Laffy and the Devils is because they are comparing Laffy with Hughes and you know what they are right for Hughes selected #1 by the devils and the Rangers picked Laffy you can’t compare oranges to potatoes Hugh’s being a elite player compared to Laffy is legit.

  14. This Ranger team is done with no matter what player they pickup this team will continue to fail.

  15. Sherry has not opened my eyes why is it any player being successful on another team coming onto the Rangers are garbage?

  16. Time to cut , bench or demote the unproductive players. The Rangers are SLOW. Lafrenier a no 1 pick and Kakko a no 2 pick were the wrong picks. These guys are AHL level players. Then lets add in Lias Anderson another first round bust and there are more.

  17. I don’t know why Laf has to be singled out in the title when the whole team has been beyond underachieving to unacceptable standards.

Supposedly the team is going at a pace that will see them scoring ten fewer goals than last year’s Sharks… but yeah hockey is a team sport and this is not a team

  18. He's also a black hole on defense, he falls in every time the puck goes down our end🏒
