Are the Montreal Canadiens eyeing Kiefer Sherwood as their next trade target? In today’s video, we break down why Sherwood’s name is suddenly popping up around the Habs, what kind of price tag he might come with, and whether Kent Hughes should pursue him as a rental player or a long-term fit in Montreal.

We analyze Sherwood’s game, his impact in Vancouver, how he would slot into the Canadiens’ forward group, and whether he fits the identity the Habs are trying to build. Is he worth spending assets on? Would he bring the kind of depth, grit, and pace this team is missing?

Join Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico as they go deep on:
✔️ Why Kiefer Sherwood is being linked to Montreal
✔️ What the Canadiens would realistically have to give up
✔️ Rental vs long-term contract — what makes sense?

  1. If Vancouver was smart they would move him ASAP. Some teams are probably looking at him for their top-6. The second he stops scoring his value will drop significantly.

  2. Rather they trade for Boeser.

But I get why Sherwood would be a thought

Especially if you could flip Anderson to a contender 50% retained Edmonton Oilers could use an Anderson just like they could use a Sherwood but

  3. Don't do it. Not interested in paying for this caliber of rental and definitely don't think he's worth his asking price to sign after the season

  4. Hard pass on Sherwood. Montreal needs to concentrate on coaching team defense and goaltending. If those two facets of the game are not addressed, there will not even be playoffs. An age appropriate 2nd line center is what trade assets should be saved for.

  5. I think Laine may get resigned because he's going to be a lot more willing to sign a more team friendly deal then anyone is thinking

  6. The Habs have already traded away too many valuable assets for reclamation projects especially with the spectre of expansion in the near future.

  7. I was talking about Sherwood, weeks ago, months ago , I talked about him at the end of last season . And please do not put sherwoods name along with bums like gallgher and Anderson , at the time Anderson was thought to be a goal scorer . Sherwood has been a beast on hits ever since he started playing hockey .

At 5 millions , you call him a recipe for regrets? While the habs spend 20 millions on Anderson , Gallagher and Laine 20 millions . Losing a 2nd rounder for Sherwood wouldn’t sit well with Marco but 2 x1st foe newhook and a 13th overall for Dach is ok?

Did any of you even ever seen him play ? And then Shaun stated that the habs would be buying high? Yes , it’s better to buy high than constantly buy junk like Dach , Laine , Bolduc ect

The Vegas knight don’t have a choice but to not pay their bottom six players, same with colorado , ect ect , cause they have to pay their too 6 a fortune ! Montreal waiting for bigger fish ? Just like they were waiting after Cozen , waiting after Zegras ect ect . They always wait !

give it up with the value of a second round pick while the habs have paid a fortune according to your definition of the value of a 2nd round pick for players that aren’t even in the lineup

I’ll say it again , like I’ve said it a million times on here , Montreal need to get physical and find energy for their bottom 6 , I’d rather pay Sherwood 5 mil than gallagher 6.5, Anderson 5.5, Laine 8.7 and Dach 4.

Btw Sherwood has more hits than the entire 4th and 5th line combine and has more goals than gallgher , Anderson , Laine , Evans , Davidson , xhekaj , texier and Blais combined ! Let that sink in

  8. Bolduc ended the last season on fire and MSL put out the fire by not playing him. Don't trade that kid he will be awesome. Once he will get more mature and better defensively

  9. Kiefer Sherwood looks good. He's 30. His best season was last year with 19 goals and 40 points. He has had some great AHL seasons. He has 12 goals and 16 points in 27 games this year. He makes $1.5 million this year.
What is he supposed to bring? Vancouver is hoping to extract value for this guy. Let someone else trade for him.
    Where would he play?

  10. Lol! A plan B to a 22 year old that's already a ppg player on the road and will eventually mature into brining that game on home ice… 🙄

  11. Tongue in cheek here but he said he was gonna end slafs opportunity at going to the olympics. Slaf may be like screw getting this bozo. lol!
