  1. Okay DK. I have been writing to you since the early 2000s (I think the forst time I wrote to you was before the ens/Nashville game in Japan) when I was stationed overseas and listening to as much penguins radio or taking in as much internet content as was available. This so far has been a winning formula in today's NHL. "This team" is not built to win 100% of their games. That has not been a point of the design. They have a new coach, new lines, new faces, injured stars, and old superstars. Consistency will set in..you know this.

  2. DK, you may have covered this- Do you think this Goaltending and PP scoring could be bridging the gap while the team finds consistency? And also, do you think that if this team finds a hypothetical identity within that, they could win a few series in the playoffs?

  3. You would take Novak out of the lineup over K. Hayes? Hayes' underlying numbers are bad, and he brings the Crosby line down. I'd rather see Novak up to the top line than continue to see Hayes skate through wet cement out there. He's so slow. Novak isn't a world beater, but he can skate better and he drives play – similar to a D. Simon type of player.

  4. The radio guy did a great job of calling that fight. Speaking of radio, they were going to have the other DK on at the first intermission – do they ever interview you or Taylor? (haven't listened to radio in a while, pretty good, tho)

  5. Winning games where you play like ass is part of being a good team. It all comes out in the wash. They'll lose some game where they play well, im sure.

  6. Aside from a missed goal being called in, that was my first experience seeing the situation room call the rink for a review. While I'm glad it worked out for the Pens, I have to say I'm not a fan as I feel it takes away from the game. So the first 58 minutes of a game, these missed calls by the refs are deemed ok by Toronto? Meh… BTW, I'm so happy for Jarry. He's battled so much adversity the past few seasons. I laugh when I continue to see "fans" cry for him to be traded. They clearly haven't been watching this season.

  7. Hey DK, Jarry was on fire. Watching Kucherov operate is surgical, he is phenomenal. But I agree the win and points was great but the win was luck. Even the PP getting two, they almost gave up four shorthanded ones. Last night the worst line on the ice was line one, they get outclassed against other top lines nightly. When Sid makes a pass it’s not converted, If he doesn’t work some magic than the line doesn’t produce. Come Sunday, Dallas will eat this team alive. I know the goal is the playoffs, but squeezing in and getting ousted in four should not be. This formula does not beat any top team over seven games, just doesn’t.

  8. DK, I know you're right about HOW they won last night but there's been a couple games we lost when we were the better team also right? In March when we're battling for playoff seeding these 2 points may end up being HUGE, you've already helped me become a more knowledgeable fan. Can't wait for DS of Pens my man! Safe travels 😎

  9. Thank you DK. Better defense and I'm not talking about Jarry, he did a great job. I agree they need Rakell. Great show DK

  10. Jarry is tremendous but our offense is scraping by and the defense is laughable. We do not have the firepower that Tampa has. We're winning with smoke and mirrors and help from the refs. Another collapse. Hopefully not a sign of things to come but probably is.

  11. Agreed it was an ugly win, but the Lightning are really good … likely the best team in the East … so you take the 2 points any time you get it however you get it. But we can't lose sight of the fact that Rakell and Brazeau being out of the lineup … and yes, all teams including Tampa have guys out (most notably for them Hedman and Point) … really impacts the Pens because they don't have the depth to withstand the injuries because right now the increased roles are going to Kevin Hayes and Novak, and those are huge … and I mean huge … dropoffs.

  12. Unsustainable way to win, but a win is a win and it's nice to be on the other side of this for once. I'm used to the Pens out playing, out chancing and going down to a defensive lapse or a goaltender mistake. It's OK to steal one here and there.

  13. DK I understand how good the second line was prior to Brazaeu’s injury but what did Novak do to you to be so negative about him consistently but praising Kevin Hayes at every turn? He’s realistically not a top 6 guy but he’s also not been as bad you portray
