Guys until they get a lot bigger and harder to play against with the bottom six we are going no where you fix the bottom 6 that pounds the other team and this opens up a lot
I thought Dobes' glove was better this game. Texier had a great game.
If Monty was in net last night, this game would have definitely been a loss.
I was on RDS just to hear their insight. I did not realize Sportnet did not show the Markov speech. That is an insult to Habs fan from Sportsnet.
Remember 2020-21 when the Hockey Gods had everything fall into place for Montreal to squeak into the playoffs, beat the Leafs, the Jets and Golden Knights and finally met the Tampa Bay Lightning for the Stanley Cup.
Remember the type of players that made up their bottom 6 and defense pairings?
Despite having the worst coach in franchise history the team managed to set a franchise record of time consumed holding a consecutive lead in the playoffs and attained the second best record in all of NHL history teams.
Their defense was big, beefy and very mean to opponents who literally had to sacrifice their body to get a high level shot at Carey Price.
Price only had to be a magician in games 4-7 in the first series involving The Leafs. Any other goalie could do the rest of the way.
Price was never even considered for the Conn Symth trophy that year.
Phil Danault led the forechecking for Montreal.
The players bought into timely goal scoring and choked off all offensive threats.
The years of crazy pressure cracked Price in the finals. Montreal had as many shots on net as did Tampa and actually a higher number of high end danger shots on the Russian goalie Val.
Price stopped only 84% of the shots directed at him and let in several softies especially at inopportune times.
Val won the Con Smyth trophy.
This year Colorado is playing like the best mixture of the best of the 1970-71 Offensive minded Boston Bruins whose Orr is now Makar and whose Esposito is now McKinnon. They have the defensive talent of the 76-77 Montreal Canadiens as well as the loss record.
How to overcome Colorado this year?
They will need the second highest scoring team in the league as well as a goaltender who can pull rabbits out of a hat as did Ken Dryden did in that series against Boston.
Dryden was a WINNING goaltender not a shut down goalie who might allow 5 but always 1 less than his team would score to get a win.
Im getting sick of this bullshit where people say Kapanin only scores because of Ivans skill. Who cares, the point is he finishes. Yari Kurri was a finisher and all he did was be a preeminent goal scorer on that great Oilers team. If Oliver is where he is supposed to be, and scoring goals and is tied at the top for rookie scoring, it shows he is a talent that knows how to play the game.
I think Montreal needs to find a winger for Suzuki.
Slafkovsky makes Demidov a dual threat, Slaf can make plays and Demidov can find quiet ice to receive a 1 timer.
Jekyl and Hyde team
Could we have an Arber- Ghule pairing in the future? Arber crushing the corners and front of Net while Ghule patrols the Blue lines with open ice hits and saucer passes. While Dobson and Hutson conquer opposing players in the O-zone. The Matheson plays all special teams plus accompanying the 6th guy that will be a prospect for the duration of his career. We have so much potential on D.
Hire him for 10 games
Make Dach a winger when he comes back. Give him a 1 year prove it deal at like 3 mil
Demidov is going to be so scary to the opposition in 2-3 years
How long before Sammy Blais is called up sending probably Davidson or Velono to the press box?
Montreal always plays differently when they have a goalie in net they know is going to make saves.
For me Dach as proven that he's a very important peace of the team at a very good deal du to his injuries….I would sign him for 7 years. Sorry guys!
Better to have him on a third line or a fourth than anyone else.
It's not about WHERE the shots are from it is weather or not they aimed their shots. Most shots all night were shot right at the goalies. The lack of size really shows often MTL players were on their butts too often in short sequence Suzuki was on his rear then Hutson then Caufield.
What I liked was the D stayed on the line longer than normal they didn't let Win easily out but yeah sometimes but not always.
We still have a big problem with playing with the head up players are not looking then throwing blind passes in both ends of the ice but the worst is when they throw it around their own goalie instead of getting it out.
The shootout as expected Caufield either 5 hole or top shelf but Suzuki's attempt was weak and Texier again a weak attempt.Luckily Win I think was Valardi hit the post and that was the entire game Win did not shoot well.
Wait till next season when they do it for Carey Price
About that Bryce Pickford ! Now that’s impressive , especially when the whl is know for producing great defensemen. This guy might be the habs best prospect outside the nhl after Fowler
Xhekaj is better than Struble And Carrier
Hey Sean, I live in UK and agree Sportsnet coverage was awful and disappointing regarding Marky coverage. I switched to French feed and credit for their coverage. Go Habs Go!!
I'm interested in the two framed pieces of art on Marco's wall.
Markov is russian, and those stupid mass medias dont want to see genuine love for a russian. Everything why people loves Markov so much, like humility, consistency, righteousness, genuine humour etc., is against mass media's narratives. Purely just political BS.
Tsn is Toronto Sports Network, so they have little interest in Montreal at all. Their audio made the bell center sound like it was under water. They definitely nuked the crowd audio. RDS is definitely the go-to for Montreal games if you can handle the French (and why can't you?)
Do you want to win games, or just spare your goalie on a back to back? If Dobes is hot vs Toronto, you come back with him vs St-Louis, period!
Am I crazy was Colby Armstrong on color? I cant remember hearing him speak?
The realistic 2C options is already playing on this team. Give up with the 2C
