This One’s for Brooksie | Up in the Blue Seats

After a brief hiatus, Up In The Blue Seats returns with a powerful and emotional episode. Mollie Walker and former Ranger Brian Boyle open the show by remembering their friend, colleague, and Hall of Fame hockey writer Larry Brooks, who recently passed away at 75 after a short battle with cancer.
Mollie and Brian share heartfelt stories, personal reflections, and behind-the-scenes memories of Larry’s legendary career, his impact on the Rangers community, and the indelible mark he left on journalism, the NHL, and everyone who knew him.

The crew then dives into the Rangers recent stretch including Adam Fox being placed on LTIR, Artemi Panarin’s resurgence and how the team can’t afford to lose him, and how the OT win over the Stars could help kickstart the Rangers on home ice.

All that and more on this week’s episode of ‘Up in the Blue Seats’

  1. You guys were with Larry-the HNIC-of my hockey world. Brooks was great. He was tough. Let me tell you, for this fan, he was such a gift. And, Molly and Brian, carry on! Your hearts' are hurting, but he'd want you ready to cover this season. Foxy can't be replaced; still, Schnieds will step up. Thanks. Game on! RIP Brooksie.

  2. Mollie, if you get to Milan and the rink isn't done, take a quick ride up to Lake Como, have killer Italian food and wine and chill, only 45 minutes from Milan.

Hope you get there, magical city!

  3. Wishing you strength and peace. Larry will live on in our memories. Seems like he was a wonderful mentor. wrt Bread considering a return to Russia, I thought that would be a no-go if he once openly criticized Putin is true.

  4. Fantastic Episode Mollie and Boyler. RIP LB….Im going miss everything you produced. And Yes. Mollie needs to go to Milan. She is an unbelievable beat reporter for the NYR/NYP.

  5. I was pretty sure that the Rangers created a new stat column for empty-net goals against per loss this season. Glad they flipped the script last night.

  6. MOLLIE MUST BE IN MILAN for the Olympics!!! Then give her a free train ride to Lugano, Switzerland ✅😉

  7. Very moving remarks. I read Larry for years as a devoted Rangers fan and enjoyed his vibe with you both on this podcast. Thank you!

  8. RIP Brooksie. You’ll be sorely missed but we know we’re in great hands with Mollie. And for the love of Peter Pan, send Mollie to cover the Olympics!

  9. Larry left us with a terrific legacy, something we all strive for. He will be remembered. You are running with his baton now, Molly! Thank you for all your hard work and insight all of these years and into the future! You have been a great addition Brian, you color commentary is getting better and more confident with each broadcast. Let's Go Rangers!

  10. You can't just replace the points Panarin gets every season.Toronto fans didn't want Marner back and now they look like half the team they used to be.RIP Brooksie💙

  11. So glad Larry got that respect in life & death. Painful loss. RIP Mollie & Boyle were so pained. Such a loss.

  12. Molly I will contribute $500 towards yourv. ticket if you take Sue with you!! Btw Artemi is not going to play in the KHL. They can't pay him anywhere close to what they're paying NHL start players and you may not know this, but Russia's in the war and there are some places you'd rather not go. It's just if you're negotiating a contract you're not going to shut out Any possibility cuz you want them to worry about it.
