That is a weird contract for Stars. They have some history with Benn and Seguin for rewarding big contracts, but this one seems too big. You can expect Harley's production to be good, but it's hard to see the defensive lapses and low speed get better over time. The real problems start if you have players in the team that feel like someone is getting overpayed compared to their effort.
Gotta trust Jim Nill with the Harley – Robo thing. Both players are integral to the Stars success. Yeah, I had guessed Harls would sign for no more than 10. The number seems a bit high. I do think he’s worth it though. I’m just not sure what cap gymnastics will go on to keep Robo.
Im a bit concerned that people aren’t comprehending how much the cap is increasing over the next few years

Dallas has $17M in cap space next year without any moves and only need to sign Robo and a few bottom players so Robo will be just fine, also Harley isn’t hitting anyone😂 he is not a physical dman, he’s an offensive dman. Also Harley is making less of a % of the cap next year than Heiskanen did when he signed sooo Dallas is fine

I think you boys are sleeping on Thomas Harley idk. Think hes pretty damn elite and only getting better. We're talking about a guy who was a legit star for the Canadian 4 nations team and probably going to the olympics. Hutson isn't. Hughes isn't. I'm a Habs fan but I think paying Harley more than Lane is totally valid.

Stars fan here. I think your take is wrong. Nill knew he would likely make the Olympic team raising his profile. He’s had a bad start to the season but with his growth and growth of the cap, this deal is gonna look like a steal 3 years in. Then we’ll have 5 years of a good deal. Still have money for ROBO.
Robo is so so good but is it just me or has his body language been really…. negative? Next Dallas game watch him after some puck stoppages and see if I'm crazy but he looks like super bummed out right now.

I mean with the cap projected to increase another 18 mil over the next two years, locking in stud players to long term deals is a huge win for any franchise. The “market value” is all over the place right now and signing an 8 year deal that takes you into your age 33 season means this is likely the biggest number he’ll ever get. Mans gotta get everything he can and for the Stars, they don’t have to worry about defense now until next decade lol
As for the Stars cap, you’ve got maybe one tricky year in 2026-27 but even that doesn’t look like it’s too hard to do gymnastics around. Plus the back to back to back GM of the year is running the show so I’d say the Stars are in excellent shape!!!

The level of crime is no where near as high as it was in early 90’s. The term safteyism explains this well. It is not nearly as dangerous for kids now as it was when you guys were growing up.
