Everyone forgets what Lou did for the islanders when he first stepped in. We went to back to back eastern conference finals. Over the last few years he trusted his players and they let him down.
It’s how us Habs fans felt with Gorton snd Hughes. Getting rid of the old way of thinking in Bergevin was absolutely necessary. The NHL was leaving the Habs behind and the GM wasn’t willing to change his philosophy or team building method. Gorton and Hughes brought the new way of building a team.
