I hope Sabourin uses this four game suspension and take a good look in the mirror to see if this is really the type of player he wants to be. Then he will say "I am proud I did what was asked of me" and move on with his day.

Personally I'm a huge (no pun intended) Curtis Douglas fan, he's a big boy he's got a grindy style to his game, REALLY hope he gets into a few games for the Lightning and ends up sticking around finally.

According to the Flames Nation, McDiva just signed for a lower amount so he can be more easily traded once he's sick of Deadmonton's losing ways.

For me it’s a bit of a mystery though that more players don’t do this.
They do earn A LOT of money anyway, so why not maximise the chances of a cup or five?
For McDavid I feel it’s his chance of possibly getting a couple of cups to his team, and getting up to (about) the same level as 99, 66 and 87.
McDavid showed how much he really, REALLY wants that cup.

With the injuries to Florida, anything short of a cup would be a total failure on Edmonton
oilers will fritter away the money as usual and not actually fix their problems. even mcdavid knows it
Honestly am surprised Oiler fans are fully celebrating this . I obviously get they’re happy he’s staying so don’t get me wrong. But yea he signed but only 2 years . He’s clearly saying “you have 2 years to put a team around me or I’m gone” . If he was truly just satisfied playing in Edmonton and planned on staying there he would’ve just signed an 8 year deal . So again I get being happy he’s staying but acting like he’s this hero in Edmonton for signing a super shortened deal which is still a pretty penny and clearly putting an ultimatum on the table for Edmonton surprises me.
He only opted TWO YEARS not because of salary cap
more so his age, hes not that young anymore, 2 years left to win with this org and immediately. The Salary Cap is not raising substantially within the next 2 years enough for mcdavid to sign a 16-19m deal and still compete within the next TWO YEARS.
Clearly the organization hasn't made any good decisions in the last 12 yrs to put them over the top.
So this is a good deal for all involved . McDavid will be around for a few years longer , and this is a bridge deal meaning in 2 years McDavid can sign a much bigger contract .
Connor McDavid's move is a class act, since he could have gone anywhere he wanted, and gotten almost any amount of money he wanted. I think what Conner McDavid wants is the Stanley Cup. He already has plenty of money. One of his reasons for taking less money that he could have is because he knows that other good players on the OIlers might end up going to other teams.
McDavid is giving Edmonton the chance to prove they can build around him, and that’s respectable
