Has Juraj Slafkovský finally arrived as a true NHL force? ⭐️
In today’s episode, Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico break down Slafkovský’s season so far and why his game is taking a serious step forward — and it’s not just about points. We dive into how he’s meshing on a new line with Kapanen and Demidov, the details in his game that show real growth, and what this means for his long-term ceiling in Montreal.
Plus, we revisit the 2022 NHL Draft, the debates around his 1st-overall selection, and whether he’s now proving the Canadiens made the right call.
If you’re a Habs fan, this is a deep dive you won’t want to miss.

Ok I am saying it here for our new and old members to see. If Slaffers scores 30 goals this season, I will get a custom jersey with SlafZilla on the back and walk through DT Montreal when I visit next year.
I will really be happy when we no longer have to talk about a 2C. Hopefully, that day will come soon.
Excellent 👍
It seems apparent that he appreciates being the leader on that line rather than the 3rd guy on the top line.
His switch was out of necessity and it is paying off. What happens after Dach returns ?
It is such a pleasant surprise to not have to insulate Slaf and actually have HIM being someone the Habs can lean on to insulate others. Great to see!
I prefer Slafsquatch.
Slav is going to turn out to be the next Bob Gainey or Carbonneau. A top utility player who can eat up PP minutes, play as an offensive defenceman, a checking guy tasked with shadowing franchise players to mark them out of games, or a play driver to dish off to better shots on his wing. What he'll sacrifice for individual stats he'll make up for in a winning pedigree.
He has it in him to be a Habs legend.
I like Slaf on the 2nd line. Balanced offense and 2way play. He is hitting more.
I love the point about Strong Side Slaf. If there is one thing that drives me nuts about this team it's our penchant for playing our guys on their weak sides needlessly. Slaf should never play his weak side no matter who he plays with.
I have to admit I gave up on him too early. The move to place with Demidov changed everything, set him free. With Suzuki and Cole he was letting them drive the show. Just as long as he keeps his head up. Skating seems better skating more without looking at the puck, protecting the puck with his body. He looked so smooth and effortless last week he reminded me of big Jean. Big plus for the team
It's incredible how much both Slaf and Caufield have benefitted from playing with Nick Suzuki in terms of learning how to play the game the proper way.

Make sure you give credit to "Habs Digest" for coinining "slafzilla. They have been calling him that for a couple years now.
Slaf is developing as expected. He has demonstrated , almost from the start, very strong skills. Vision and passing skills continued to be undervalued early when it was obvious there was way way more in his game. He is just starting out. think Todd Bertuzzi game and skills (minus the obvious) during his Vancouver dominance but higher ceiling. It took him longer to develop into a top end power forward. Slaf obviously better.
I've been saying Slaf needed to be moved off the top line for awhile. He gives the Habs a strong second line option. I thought he would have been great with Dach and Demidov to start the season and I thought Laine should have been given a shot on the top line just to see if there was anything there. Moot point, he's gone, Dach's out for awhile. We'll see when he's back if this works. Kapanen-Newhook-Bolduc is a nice third line and then you have Evans-Anderson-Gallagher/whoever.
I feel like slaf would me a great center, big, good on both sides of the puck, drives the line, would just need to work on his faceoffs
If they took Cooley, fans would be complaining about lack of size. I think Slaf will eventually prove he was the right pick even if other players like Cooley get more points.
Slaf has solidified his defensive game which is always an undervalued ability but it's what wins championships.
Also what do you guys think about trying Slaf at center? Good defensively, good playmaking ability, can carry a rush up the center of the ice. He might be the 2C the Habs have been looking for.
