Leafs bring the best out of all teams in the NHL
Florida and Tampa do not have the problem of the players salaries being taxed till that question is addressed they will always have an advantage in the league. Anyone who thinks Mariner is not worth his contract does not know much about hockey. None of the top four is perfect but there isn't a player in the league who is perfect. How many years did Tampa go with a big top four before they reached the Stanley Cup?
Marner was loved in this city, he brought all this in himself. Even now if he earns his pay he will be respected. The talent is there but mentally he hasn’t had it.

Hi Guy's, I always hate watching Det/Tor games. I grew up a Leafs fan in the 60's being born and raised in the Detroit area. Can't stand seeing Det beat Tor. I thought that would happen last night. Leafs didn't play their best game, but at least they came back.
1) We need 2 defensemen because the trifecta of Holl, Dermott, Liljegren ain't cutting it. We can succeed with 1 of 3 as our #6 or 7. Flip one for a pick and parlay the pick along with a low end prospect for a rental #5 or 6. Problem is that the other defenseman we need is a top 4. That's not gonna be cheap.
2) If we lose in the 1st round and Matthews is a no-show in the playoffs again, you would have to take a long, hard look at his future in Toronto THIS SUMMER with his UFA status looming. If he offers you no indication of a desire to re-sign until after the conclusion of his current contract, you trade him regardless of the fact that he's the best player on the team, as losing him for nothing would set this team back years.

The wise move if breaking up the four would be to trade Johnny T but would be hard to get fair value with that huge contract. I specifically said last year the Leafs should have made the trade for Matthias Ekholm instead of Foligno. Big mistake

No more trading away 1st rounders for crack! If anything must sign the guy. Can’t be throwing away picks and prospects for nothing. Last years fogino was a huge disaster. He wasn’t worth a 2nd let alone 1st. Maybe 3rd.
