I wasnāt disappointed at all , like expected, the Avs bigger players crashed the net due to the space their star players created . Iāve been hating on Slafkovsky since he was drafted but since heās been on that demidov line ! Wow!
What the habs need to be as good as the Avs , size and secondary scoring on the 3rd and 4th line . Thereās no need to rush in getting a second line center and overpay , give kapanen big minutes for now.
Habs needs to get rid of deadwood , we all LOVE Gallagher and what he has done for us but he has over stayed his welcome , gallagher should have been gone years ago . Another player I think needs to be upgraded is Carrier , this guy is brutal . As soon as Montreal builds a big mean 4th line , theyāll become an instant powerhouse

If anyone thinks that Montreal didn't try your nuts. The Avs are just a much larger team with skill. Montreal just needs to get bigger. Unfortunately Gally needs to go, love him but he has given all that he could. It's time for him to go and enjoy time with his beautiful wife and family.

Kapanen IS a second line center , name me 10 better center his age in the league that are running a second line , playing on the pk and has an above 50% on the faceoff with less than 42 nhl games ? Kapanen is a bigger plekanec .
The top 2 lines would be much more productive if the habs had depth on the bottom two lines , no a single team out there fears Montreals bottom lines , other teams 4th line usually overpowers the habs 3rd line and Montreal 4th line is the worst in the league
Find yourself a big third line center who can win draws and a big mean winger to replace Veleno and Gallagher and the habs becomes a top 3 team in the league instantly
But the habs canāt aquire anyone now , it wouldnāt make sense , they need to evaluate their rookies at the nhl level! Theyāre zero chances of winning the cup this year , gives some ahl guy a chance , guys like Farrell and beck by the end of the season, maybe even Reinbacher then theyāll have a better idea going forward, give Kapanen and xhekaj ice time and let Hutson , demidov and Slafkovsky get more experience
No need to give up assets for rentals right now , next year will be the season they take off . The focus should be getting rid of players who donāt fit with this team (Gallagher and maybe Carrier) . Theyāll be great UFAs available next season to fill the holes
But those Nordiques' jerseys were mint! We need a team back in QuƩbec!

Gallagher will always be a pillar for the Canadiens, but he's hurting this team, as he can't keep up. It's a sad thing to see, but I think he should be healthy scratched a few times to give him some rest, and to give some younger prospects opportunities.
This new team, Nordiques de Quebec really dominated the Canadiens, and they didnt even give their 100%, they were just enjoying and having fun. Probably the team that is leading the NHL and deserve to win the cup as of right now.
EDIT: One more thing that I liked about Habs is that they played their own game, they played open and competed. They were not scard to open up and play and give what they have. That to me is courageous even if they lost.
MSL is doing the best he can with what he has but timeouts are a big deal Shaun.

If your 3rd and 4th lines aren't hard to play against, you will get exposed every time on the road against a high skilled team. The matchups will kill you. Don't need offense from them but they need to be hard to play against and right now they are not.

Kapanen has 2C potential in a couple years. People forget that Suzuki and Plekanec both started out as a defensively sound 3rd center with some offensive upside. Kapanen fits that same pattern.
Engstrom is great, donāt get me wrong. But I donāt understand the narrative that he should be the 6th defenceman on the team because heās a better all around player than Xhekaj. Xhekaj was the only defenceman laying guys out and pinning them against the board last night. Heās a more physical and bigger player. Heās not playing the same way a Engstrom plays, but you still need that in your line up. I donāt care if itās someone else than Xhekaj but you need someone like that in your lineup. I donāt understand the narrative that advocates for just puck moving defenceman that are 6 ft tall / 200 lbs in your lineup. Look at the Avs, they have Makar but also Burns. And it works.
Habs not on 3 road games in 4 nights wouldāve been different.
Looking at the NHL Edge data Florian is faster than Blais. In around 150 NHL games, Blais max speed is 20.93 MPH and have 20 burst of > 20 MPH. In 8 NHL games, Florian top speed is 21.30 MPH with 8 burst of > 20 MPH. Blais MIGHT be quicker to reach top speed but Florian has higher top speed and use that speed more often

I agree 100% with the criticism of not taking the timeout. I have never understood why most coaches only wait til the end of the game when half the time you don't even get the chance to take the timeout at the end of the game due to either no whistle, or not wanting to give the other team a rest in certain situations. I'm not saying there are no reasons to wait, but sometimes it's not always about composing yourself, but cooling down the other team. I would be interested to know what % of timeouts are wasted per year if anyone has that info
I read comments most days, and i realise we live in a time where itās very reactive, practically bipolar. Its good to enjoy some real common sense with starr & damico š¤š½ it hit me hard when i heard monty talking about him & his gf getting harassed directly online, same for matheson last yearā¦ If you wouldnt tell something to someones face, donāt fn write it ! I don't see much difference in Kapanen than Suzuki or Plekanic in their rookie years. I believe he does have the potential to be a 2C

What people defending Kapanen donāt get, is that if he plays on the 3rd, it pushes down talent to the 3rd and 4th.
Maybe heāll develop to 2nd line center worthy eventually ā¦ on the 3rd line. Which would make the Canadiens one of the rare teams to roll 3-4 lines in any situation and when a 1C/2C is injured, weāre still in a good place.
Adding a guy in between his skill set and Evans to the 3rd is barely upgrading the team, its signing a Dvorak 2.0 that will hopefully not be a ghost or hurt 3/4 of the season.
Having center depth is the goal, a 1C, a real 2C, an eventual 2C/3C in Kapanen, and Evans thatās depth.
