Kuznetzov had been on the ice over two mins at that time and was being called off…. So passing to Zary was the play but he went his own way. Dumping the puck.
zary's three feet ahead of him, and not skating hard. why tf should he get the puck? the play isn't going anywhere if he gets it. the dump-in at least is useful for a line change.
I don't see the issue here, if you watch the full play as it was developing. Zary was skating along the wall, and Kuznetzov was trailing behind him for multiple seconds and elected to hold onto the puck.. Zary's not mad he didn't pass it 2 ft infront of him! He's annoyed at the hesitancy and the fact the puck wasn't already on his tape a few seconds earlier. You can see in the full play, he's waiting on Kuznetzov giving him the cue that he's open, and that cue wasn't taken, leading to frustration and the banging the stick. He got fired up over a poor read by his Dman, as a winger on the rush who should want the puck. Wow, big deal.
