The window on the Class of 2017 has closed. Management has spent every draft choice and prospect in support of the "Core 4" and now the cupboard is bare. Remember that this started years ago because the Leafs sucked so bad they were awarded draft picks yielding Matthews, Marner and Nylander. Time to start over again. Tank and tank hard

Tree hired Bérubé. They both need to be fired at the same time. You can’t hire a new coach now and then fire Tree 3 months from now. Do you really want Tree managing the deadline given the debacle he has caused since he was hired ??? The new GM will want his own coach.
Watching the highlights hours after the game, I thought they were going to get another win; maybe not turn things around but a brief change of fortune would have been nice. Collapsing and crumbling in the final moments is such a classic Leaf tradition.
trade Matthews, get what you can before his value really drops hard
Rosie I’ve been thinking the same thing about what the return could be for Matthews. They should shut him down for the season so he’s 100% healthy and the team that trades for him hopefully feels comfortable with his health and gives a decent package. But I wouldn’t stop there, I’d also ask Nylander to submit a list. Given how management has mishandled draft capital, they need to make 1 for 3 deals (young roster player, blue chip prospect & draft pick(s) coming back.
The GM should be working at Walmart
Rearranging furniture on the Titanic is not going to save the Titanic… Berube is not the problem. The Leafs depth, age and balance are the problem. Scotty Bowman and Toe Blake could not fix this team as it is currently cast.
