Singapore STUN Hong Kong, Iraq WIN, and Korea in Crisis! | Asian International Break Review

In this video I review some key fixtures from the FIFA international break.
I cover the following games:
Hong Kong vs Singapore
Hong Kong vs Cambodia
Singapore vs Thailand
Iraq vs UAE (United Arab Emirates)
South Korea (Korea Republic) vs Bolivia
South Korea (Korea Republic) vs Ghana
Japan vs Bolivia
Japan vs Ghana
Colombia vs New Zealand
Colombia vs Australia
Nepal vs Malaysia
Bangladesh vs India
Bangladesh vs Nepal
Qatar vs Zimbabwe
Turkmenistan vs Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) (Republic of China)
Laos vs Vietnam
There were some really great games this window!
Hong Kong vs Singapore saw some great performances from Matt Orr, Glenn Kweh, Juninho, Safuwan Baharudin, Ilhan Fandi. Zhenpeng Wang also played with Ashley Westwood managing the team.
Hamza Choudhury and Shekh Morsalin starred for Bangladesh in their historic victory against India. Their first win over India in 22 years. Diaspora players such as Zayyan Ahmed and Shamit Shome also helped out.
South Korea and Japan both played Ghana and Bolivia, but the gap between Hong Myung-bo and Hajime Moriyasu was evident. Even though South Korea have Kim Min-jae, Seol Young-woo, Son Heung-min, Lee Kang-in, Cho Gue-sung, Lee Jae-sung, Hwang Hee-chan, and Jens Castrop, Hong Myung-bo’s team did not look convincing. Meanwhile, Moriyasu has made the most out of his squad, with Takefuso Kubo, Daichi Kamada, Ritsu Doan, Takumi Minamino, and Ayase Ueda all excelling.
Iraq and the United Arab Emirates played a thrilling game in their World Cup Qualifying game. Graham Arnold got the most out of Ali Al-Hamadi before his injury. Meanwhile, Caoi Cesar and Luanzinho looked deadly for the UAE. Iraq’s young team looked at a disadvantage, as some of their key players such as Ali Jasim, Aimar Sher, Marko Farji, and Zidane Iqbal, are considerably less experienced than the UAE players, such as Nicolas Gimenez. Graham Arnold made a few smart substitutions, taking of Sherko Gubari in order to change the formation. Alaeddine Zouhir and Ruben Filipe Canedo Amaral struggled late in the game and eventually Iraq their winning goal to send them to Mexico for the FIFA Inter Confederation playoffs.
Elsewhere, Rafaelson and Tuan Hai Pham scored against Laos, Carbonero’s late goal cancelled out Benjamin Old’s second international goal, and Luiz Diaz and Jefferson Lerma downed the Socceroos.

  1. 16:31 well considering what FIFA reveals in the recent appeal rejection to Malaysia the result of this match and in fact all of their Asian cup qualifying games can be said now to be meaningless lol

  2. HKG vs SGP ,47000 football fans, absolutely crazy for a game like this ,especially in Asian football, great game.

  3. I think your analysis is spot-on-shows depth and understanding of tactics and well balanced, great job! Have subscribed!

  4. Our goalkeeper’s name is Izwan Mahbud, he should be referred to as Izwan as Mahbud is his father’s name. There are no surnames in Malay names. Same with Safuwan, Baharudin is his father’s name. Confusing at first, but it is all part of being multicultural Singapore.

Thanks for covering our little red dot’s greatest football achievement to date. Majulah!

  5. It's kinda crazy to think about it when we realized that this is only the second time that Singapore qualified to the Asian Cup.

Btw, I don't mean to discredit Singapore but one of the main reasons why Singapore qualified for the Asian Cup is because India is just disastrous in the qualifying round (seriously, how could it lose to Bangladesh of all teams, not to mention India is declining very quickly in recent years), which leaves Hong Kong being the only team in the group who is a main contender for Singapore. But still, both Singapore and Hong Kong battled valiantly against each other in their match even though I'm a bit disappointed that the latter bottled the lead.

  6. Meanwhile I hope that Iraq will qualify for the FIFA World Cup, it's been a very long time that the Lions of Mesopotamia hadn't appeared in the said tournament.

As for my own national football team (Malaysia), yeah the Malayan Tigers are underwhelming despite winning against Nepal, it doesn't help that Arif Aiman was subbed off early on due to an injury. Also the Hispanophile Crown Prince and the FA of Malaysia should stop denying they are wrong in the FIFA sanction case too, because it will only give them more trouble if they continue to fight against the appeal.

  7. Ive said for years if one Asian team will potentially be a threat at a world cup, itll be Japan, theyve taken the time to build themselves the infrastructure for top level football, i dont think theyre quite there yet, but they can beat anybody on their day (just ask the Germans), but i just dont think theyre able to sustain it for the whole tournament yet
