  1. this shows stats and ipl contracts dont matter..have seen thorpe play inthe most diff situations and trust me not many from the past and present wud hav survived that situation and those diff innings he played and played out the most dangerous bowlers when needed

  2. I was there when he scored a hundred in his first test, and I was there for his 99th Test. I followed Atherton and Stewart who were fine players but there was something about Graham Thorpe, he played spin better than either of them and he was a more complete player. I miss Graham Thorpe and the world was a better place with him in it. Like Nasser said, I hope he's in a better place because his friends and supporters miss him.

  3. I remember Torpe against WI against Ambrose and he smashed him all around the park so sad of his departure

  4. I am struggling with serious suicidal depression and knowing that Graham Thorpe struggled with it makes me feel that if someone who appeared to have it all can be affected by the hell of serious depression then anyone can.

  5. How touching to hear all the tributes to Graham from his old team mates. What a shame none of them recognised he really needed some help to cope with being rejected by the game. Words come cheap, actions come more expensive

  6. Thorpe was my hero when I first got into cricket. He was an unbelievable player. Absolutely no question in my mind if he was playing in this england team today he'd be averaging well above 50.

  7. Beautiful words. I can still remember my shock when he was dropped (along with Rob Key) for the 2005 Ashes. If England had lost that series (as they so nearly could have done) heads would have rolled over the choice of Bell instead. Poor choice then, poor now.

  8. Anyone reading this, ask the question to a mate – are you ok, and don’t take the first answer as the truth. Ask again if you think they’re not the same as before, they might be waiting for the second sincere prod.

  9. I remember the long partnership between nasser and thorpe in 1997 first ashes test as edgbaston. Watched it on TV.

  10. We wish Nasser/others could reach him at his toughest time, and its a lesson for everyone. When your close friend disappear from the scenes for a while, kindly reach him, he might needed you.
