The Oilers currently hold a 10-9-5 record on the season, but are they in more trouble than many think right now? Marc Denis joins Gino Reda to discuss on Domino’s That’s Hockey.
People who don’t think they’re in trouble are completely out to lunch. We’re doing nothing without an actual NHL goalie and some sort of magician to teach the players how to defend properly
Can’t stand to listen to Geno diss the oilers. Guy is such an oiler hater. He seriously believes McDavid and Drai are the only players on that team. Gino you have zero credibility as an NHL reporter. You sound like the CBC hating on the oil and gas industry.
Why is nobody talking about the fact they played 16 out of first 24 games on road. 2 long east road trips so far. TSN needs to worry about their precious Leafs who have played 67% of their games at home and have had a cupcake schedule
McJesus and Draisaitl are overhyped by the Toronto and Edmonton media. Their points don’t mean anything considering they are -5 and +6 respectively. Celebrini, Bedard, and Leo Carlsson are young players with +5 ,+9, and +11 respectively on teams that don’t have near the veterans of Edmonton. MacKinnon is +23. Granted MacKinnon has some of the best defenders in the league in Makar and Toevs, but McJesus and Draisaitl need to learn that hockey is played on a 200 foot surface, and the media needs to stop covering for the defense lapses!!!!! Yes they have played a lot of road games, but these guys are supposed to be veterans and they are not producing like it. The Rangers, Kings, and others seem to play well on the road. What excuse will be thrown behind the Oil next?
Its 1st Intermission…4-0 Stars….Struddys saying its not the System…. lol lol…. yes its the System….yes as Knoblauch says they have used the same System for 2 years but within that 2 years they have tweaked or adjusted it incorrectly many times moreso lately than usual…. against Florida they used a cohesive organized numbers strong D-zone exit…tonight….back to the Quick-out long bomb passes on the D-Exits and chaos …they had their lunch money stolen because Dallas was PREPARED…let the spanking continue…System discontinuity….and Struddy and his Pals blowing Smoke at all costs making fools of themselves. Fix the System Kris and keep it that way, Gullys slamdancing you.
The Oilers are a 100.foot team. Once they get the puck across the red line, their energy picks up. In their own half of the ice? Disinterest, turnovers, lousy checking, giving up the slot and front of the net. Worst in the league in their own end.
It depends on how the other teams in their division perform. And we can't know that either until the games are played. It's never over until it's over. The Oilers have played a ton of games on the road, and every team wants to beat the crap out of them. This is hardly surprising, given the Oilers successes in the past 4 seasons. Everyone complained about the Oilers goaltending last year in the first round when they trailed Los Angeles 2-0 in the first two games. No one talked about it until the last two games of the Cup Final when they lost both games to Florida. So in between, they were both hot. But goaltending is just one element. It's not the biggest element. I would argue that team psychology is more important than any of it. Players need to flush out all negativity from the media, negativity from family and friends, etc, and focus entirely on the game. It's not easy, but the best teams do it and win. In every sport. The Oilers need a really good sports psychologist. It reminds me of what Jack Adams told his Detroit Red Wings players in the 1950s when he ordered the players to save their sex life for the off-season. And Adams was right. All kinds of negativity in someone's personal life can be quite detrimental to that person's hockey life.

McDavid Def. demanding a trade if oilers don't make the playoffs

Marc Denis was a pretty good goaltender, the oilers could use him in net!
Weren't the oilers also performing terribly last season and still ended up in the Stanley Cup finals by the end?
McDavid is as good as gone
Both Dallas and the Leafs are 7 points out of 1st in their division. Oilers are 4 points out of 1st. No panic yet…
Looks like they’re turning it around. They just beat Florida 6-3
They were in trouble two years ago. Get rid of the goalie… not hard.

Ah ya hell ya. Lousy upper management of late.

SKINNER IS A ROAD CONE
Stars 8 mcjesus/scumsaitil 3🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oilers are losing games 9-1 and 8-3…. no team in hockey is doing that….
At least they are better than Vancouver
I was there last night. 18 rows lower bowl behind Skinner for the 1st period.
He is horrible!! He was getting a few bronx cheers on easy shots by the end of the 1st.
Edmonton 10-10-5 25 points. Florida 12-9-1 25 points. I think fatigue is a major issue but these teams will make the playoffs and both go deep again.
