The Leafs definitely should've went for a Bowen Byram type player. The perfect person on the offseason to take a risk on would've been Jordan Spence, Ottawa got him for a 3rd. Toronto gets younger on the blue line with a former first overall pick that is extended long term and they also get a center that is younger and has shown he can produce at a 30+ goal pace and a young developing center, who has played first line minutes. While Buffalo gets a true #1 center to have a 1A/1B with Tage Thompson and a RD partner for dahlin so he can play on his left side
I grew up basically neighbors of Darryl Sittler and Ian Turnbull. My large family were all leafs fans as I was more of a Habs/Bruins guy. I could never understand from watching every Saturday night including my grandmother why they were all so delusional. I have been around long enough to see some highs and lows and everything in between like trading a young Steve Sullivan to Chicago to become a 50/year goal scorer. Almost 60 years later I'm passed the rubbernecking of a train wreck to being over the moon fascinated by the leafs and their fans and I equate it to being this is where the Twilight zone and the Bermuda triangle meet. And to think these guys get paid to discuss this stuff blows my mind. My latest takes are they should've inserted Pezzetta against Montreal for some actual toughness/emotional support in that Saturday game and I think the novelty of Domi playing for daddy's team has run it's course. I am a huge fan of the show…how could I not be!!!..lol.
