We’re going over trade talks between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks during the summer, and how EDM could be regretting not acquiring Arturs Silovs.

Love Silov's, he was great in that playoff run, but like you said, a lot of people seem to forget what his play was like in the following regular season. Aside from that playoff run, every time he got brought up to the show he got lit up.
Hard to imagine that Rutherford didn't know that Silovs should have been retained over Demko. The Carolina or Pittsburgh version of Rutherford would have easily done so.
Dobes had better numbers than She Loves…until he didn't.
I knew Oilers can’t win the big show with Skinner. I have not seen hardly any clutch goaltending . Pickard has had better goal tending. Can he change? Anyone can. But you have been to the show 2 times. You can bang your head so many times. As for Silovs, I thought it was gonna be Silovs and Lank.Though Demko is great when he is on, I think he does a couple of things that can be cleaned up. Taking himself out of play by moving too far, and making himself small instead of staying big. But his rebound work is top notch.
How can you have trade regrets? Silov’s was subject to waivers. So why not trade the guy and get something for him instead of losing him on waivers . Canucks did the right thing. They wanted to keep their other goalies on bigger contracts
Also possible the asking price to trade silovs in division was far higher than a 4th
Lol… i wasn't a fan of Silovs as a Canuck. He turned things around in Abby and now Pittsburgh
Last year i knew Silov was not good enough to be a back up yet, his skill set was not there. People just didn't realize this guy is a rare player that can elevate his play in "the big game" to way over his head. I have seen that guy before so i recognized that in him. A full year in the AHL to hone his craft and he became good enough to win the Calder. I knew he was ready for the back up job this year and again he proved me correct. I thought giving him away was very foolish when we know Demko can't even come close to playing a full season. They should have traded Demko and kept Silovs for a backup and they would have more cap space this year and next to make the team better. Obvious mistake by management. They make quite a few faux pas but do make some good moves as well.

Silovs is good and young, but the Oilers may want a more proven goalie.
