Yes
Being more interested in team management as I've gotten older has helped me understand what an Impressive mess the oilers have made for themselves. They have no cap space at all. Any valuable player that another team might be interested in for a good goalie has a no movement clause. Even if you could trade one of those your lineup now has a massive hole that creates an even worse problem. Every player currently except Connor is being paid right at the top of market, or overpaid. Combine that with very little in the way of prospects on an aging roster and 0 toughness makes it a tricky spot to get out of.
Why is this even a question?
A goalie problem? Really? I mean these guys were it last year and it was an issue other than when Skinner got hot. And now their D is even worse. They were decent last year, and hot in the playoffs but now, just dreck. And the bottom 6 forwards are just bleh.

The problem is simply that they're in cup or bust mode right now and the skaters keep getting worse while the goaltending stays the same. Tinkering with your goalies is like gambling on stock options and the Oilers are opting out to lock their poop in a safe.
Who remembers "Sieve" trying to tell us his better now, cause he lost 25lbs, that cocky attitude telling the media. LOL, SO WHAT!! You mean you're still a shitty goalie that 25lbs less shittier? Skinner was only marginally better than Campbell when they threw Campbell under the bus.
Why is the focus here on Skinner? Yes, we know he's not a 1A. But what about the defense? They have been completely non existent as of late and are either screening Skinner or aren't playing hard in front of our net. All that reflects his save percentage and performance as a whole. Some goals are his fault, but most are not. Even if we get a solid goaltender, if our defense is shitty, not willing to play hard in front of our net and we continuously give the puck away for 2 on 1's a goaltender isn't' going to have much impact.

The fact that they went to the playoffs and finals with mediocre goaltending for the past two years is nothing short of a miracle if you ask me, now it's getting exposed they cannot out score their problems or play like it's 80's or 90's hockey with those numbers
