Recap: San Diego Gulls vs Ontario Reign, 11.8.25

The San Diego Gulls came up just short in their second straight matchup against the Ontario Reign, falling 4-3 in overtime Saturday night at Toyota Arena.

Glenn Gawdin led the charge for Ontario early, scoring twice in the opening frame to put the Gulls in an early hole. The Reign extended their lead to three midway through the second before San Diego mounted a strong response.

Jan Myšák got the Gulls on the board with his second of the season, followed minutes later by defenseman Noah Warren’s first professional goal, cutting the deficit to 3-2 after 40 minutes.

In a dramatic third period, Ontario’s Gawdin was awarded a penalty shot late but was denied by Ville Husso, keeping the Gulls within reach. With under two minutes remaining, Tim Washe buried his sixth of the season off feeds from Matthew Phillips and Ryan Carpenter to force overtime.

The extra frame was short-lived, however, as Ontario defenseman Kyle Burroughs scored the game-winner at 1:59 to secure the Reign’s revenge after last night’s 6-4 loss in San Diego.
