Weegar hit on Pettersson – Have your say!

MacKenzie Weegar was given a five minute major for boarding Elias Pettersson. It was reduced to a minor penalty after review. Did they get it right? Have your say!

  1. Weird one. I would say two for interference because it looks like Weegar initiates the hit after Pettersson dished the puck. The physics are weird because it looks like Pettersson is barely in front of Weegar at the point of contact.

  2. It's a dangerous hit in that space a couple feet away from the boards. I think they should have stuck with the boarding call if only because of the potential for really serious injuries in a situation like that, even if Pettersson was okay this time.

  3. I thought 2 minutes was fair here. To me 5 minutes is direct in the numbers or up high. Thought it was in the numbers on first view live, refs made the right call. Strongly disagree with their call on the other Elias Pettersson hit later in this game on Zary, that was directly in the numbers…

  4. Anyone saying it was a clean hit will be crying foul when it happens to one of the players on their team and then they will be crying foul. So what happens when the player getting hit into the boards gets put out for weeks or monthe on a so called "clean hit"? your guy is out and the other guy gets 2 minutes and does it again and again and again. Where does it end?

  5. LMAO The Swedish Pivot! Take a hit on the shoulder and pivot your body so you go in headfirst into the boards and get the call. The Stupidest thing any player can do, risk a neck injury instead of protecting yourself. 11 million should be protecting itself better. #wobblylegs ???
