Firstly, I think most Hab fans are feeling frustrated with the Habs right about now…I get it! BUT, we can't suddenly feel the ship is going down and things won't turn around. IMHO, and I believe most will agree…we trust Hughes and Gorton…we know they are watching, they see what we see, they know this team still has holes to fill and that this youth movement needs some help. I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing because 1. this core group, if they want to remain the "core" group, have to figure out how to get out of this slump on their own…it's part of the learning (definitely not fun for them or us fans, but ALL teams must go through adversity) and 2. better to learn NOW what weaknesses/needs/type of players, this team needs to add to help deal with teams they obviously have trouble playing. I worried that before the season started, the fan base was super optimistic and excited for this season…so much talent, 2nd season for Calder Hutson, first full season for Demidov, hopeful healthy season for Dach, adding Dobson and Bolduc…things looked bright!!! BUT, I think expectations were too high and reality is setting in…and the injuries don't help obviously. Many fans will have a variety of scapegoats…blaming specific players, maybe it's too much youth, is it to head coach and the system they play, maybe a bit of all 3? What I see is a team, dealing with the loss of 4 major injuries, goaltenders that are struggling, our captain obviously not 100%, and as the losses build the mistakes continue to add up probably because they are holding on to their sticks too tightly trying their best to be better, do better. Ultimately, it's the responsibility of the players to get out of this slump BUT I truly feel MSL needs to take the brunt of the criticism because he is the head coach of this team and he also needs to take full responsibility for the lack of results. Many fans & media clamouring for trades…do you think it's the best interest of this team to make a panic trade for possibly the wrong players and overpaying because we are panicking??? This scenario leads to another rebuild and no one wants that! So CALMA, CALMA, CALMA!!! I don't expect things to suddenly change for the better in the immediate future, however, I said I wanted to see how this team was doing by the end of November (I did mention end of Dec too but I don't think a bad slump will be let to simmer till the end of Dec)…the last week of Nov, this team goes on a 3 game road trip…a MUCH NEEDED get out of town, regroup, away from home pressures…I think THIS road trip will be a key trip. Not saying do or die, but if after that trip this team goes into Dec with the status quo…then the ball is clearly in Hughes' court. BUT, if they can suddenly go on a run and keep that momentum…all is good in the world again and this will give Hughes more time to find the right changes he wants to make. Ok my rant is over…sorry again for the long comment…passionate fan! Hope you've cooled off DD…again, I get it but try to keep things in perspective. Keep the faith all! Go Habs Go!
I've been saying this for a long time. They need to GET bigger and PLAY bigger. They were not good enough. Hughes, the coaches, and the players all have a role to play in their journey back to credibility. They did look for the most part like boys playing a man's game last night.
And you thought the rebuild was over. They still don’t have a second or fourth line. They get pushed around by bigger teams. Still lots of work to do. Lottery pick will help
I will say it: Xhekaj is giving the Canadiens what they want. 1- short shifts 2- simple simple game 3- no penalties 4- no on ice aggression (no hits). 5-be ready for a transition pass (got praised for his first pass) then return to defensive zone. 6- he loses fights at the end of his shift because he is reacting not creating.
With the Robidas interview and the MSL repeated comments, they have a plan for him to transform him. There is a reason why struble is fighting instead of Xhekaj… Xhekaj is scared of playing for this team and management is largely responsible.
My current take is that the video and analysis team is getting the players to doubt and be scared . The Laval players are not performing at all and seem to fold in a mold after 1 2 games with the big team.
They need a real coach and a real freaking goalie.Marty had a hot goalie but decided to play Monty which was the stupidest move a coach can make.Personal favorites is no way to run a team.
It's a 82 game season they had a great start injuries winning streaks and losing streaks growing pains lol it's sports i love the Habs started watching them the year the New York Islanders won their 3rd of 4 cups my faith helps me to put things into perspective in that it's just sports not worthy of a heart attack or high blood pressure or even good times when they win and a grouch when they loose the Hockey Guy is level across the board win or lose it's just sports and entertainment bigger picture is faith in Christ
Monty is done, Dobes a nervous wreck, time to bring up Fowler! and Florian! please!!!! other than that I mean, their chemistry if off right now becaue of the injuries., either way, goalies and defensive play is bad., and Im not just talking the defense, the forwards are lacking big time. and honestly lets face it, Wilson is a Beast and he intimidates the hell out of our guys., Marty doesn't let jackeye run loose., and jackeye needs Florian for support, Struble is not enough
I like your honest expression of frustration. They need to let the toughness flow. Real coaches. Don't think St Louis is a high level tactician. Monty is fat and has peaked. The only trades possible involve trading something good. They're acting like pussies. Hurt Wilson. Get a suspension. Who cares. Theyre not supposed to be a top team. But this is crap.
OVI was more than willing to go w ANDY toward thr end there… that is a Captian. That is a leader. Guy is a living legend and has seemingly become a fkking Lion willing to do anything to win.
HuGo may have done too much damage to our depth to ever pull us out of this. We've got no one to trade, and they gave up two firsts (plus Heineman!) for Dobson, so trading more futures isn't an option. They let too many players walk for nothing in free agency. Let's face it…when Dach, Guhle, and Laine go out with their inevitable yearly injuries this is not an NHL team. That's on HuGo, not Marty, and not the players frankly.
I honestly think is that the coach doesn't take accountability when their team is struggling and he isn't making the right decisions on who goes in and who goes out. The coach has made many terrible decisions by putting someone in the top 6 that doesn't produce and doesn't help out with the team and we should be calling up Florian Xhekaj atp and dropping down softies and people who don't produce and play well like Roy. Our goalies look terrible, I dont blame it on Dobes but I mostly blame it on Monty because he can't save a beach ball and needs to get his act together. I blame the goalies, the defense folded apart, and the coach especially. Its either Martin St Louis fixes this, or hes fired im sorry but this team can't go on with a coach who sucks and doesnt know what they doing.
Noha Dobson was again a visitor looking at his teammates while the game was unfolding in front of him and stopping the puck before slapping or slowing down the powerplay!????
Can't control injuries. Players must play through the adversity. If they play with heart it doesn't matter if they miss the playoffs the season will still have been productive. This is the time to grow.
Once we fall some positions it will put us in a better spot to get help off waivers. Patience everyone. Remember they are young and the injuries currently are significant factor. in the results being shown.
Something is wrong Suzuk never celebrated or reacted with Gallagher when Gallagher scored. They were sitting beside each other on the bench.mits been a month that I have said they need a new goaler. I also said this summer they should trade Dach, Guhlecand Slafosky in a big deal. Now they aren’t worth much.
Sorry Drew, but if Marty wanted someone to go after Wilson (like you said you’re so disappointed in Arber for not) then why when the hit took place at 14:26 of the second period did Marty not put Arber on the ice until 16:12 almost 2 mins later and not even against the Wilson line. 31 other coaches would have put their heavy line or players over the boards that next shift. Matheson watched the hit and never even hinted at going towards Wilson.
missing a guy like Savard hurt the D. They need 2 men of that stature 1 on D and any big forward apox age 29-32 yrs of age. switch out 4-5 guys a year to explore the core with other experienced players.

Montembuuuuttttttttttttt!
time to rebuild again lol, hot take, Demidov is way over hyped, too much pressure on the kid. And yes Arber is a terrible dman lol
Why didn't Arber scrap Wilson ?

Stop sulking? You look more rattled than Slafkovski in this video

They need a bigger team now.Gally is done so is Anderson. Bye bye la.
Fogidabowdit – Marty has to go –
Got a little "Dangle esq" there Drew!!! LOL
We can give them a little bit more time but I think we need a new goalie.

4 key players are out. MLS needs to be “healthy scratch” for couple of games.

They play so much better when they are ahead. Solution…Get the f*?$% first goal!!

I’ll take Primeau in net right abut now. And I’m talking Keith

I wish we still had someone like Alex Perezhogin. He would have done something to Tom Wilson 😉😉🤣😂
