OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at the game last night between the Montréal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals.. The Habs lose their 5th game in a row, I’m going to review this one in today’s video, and discuss 4 disturbing trends that I’ve been noticing in MTL’s game lately..

20 games into the season and only 2 points out first place in the Atlantic division….they are in a better place than this time last year….chill out…
Maybe a trade for Skinner in Edmonton.
DONT bring fowler please , people saying that are braindead ahahha
Is it time for Fowler to have a kick at the can?
If Scotty was still coaching he would have a Riseborough ,Tremblay , Lambert type line to stir things up and keep the other team honest!!
Monty looks like a guy who doesn’t care. Sitting on the bench looking unfazed by his shitty play.
Grow a pair and call out Marty. Fucking called everything under the sun but somehow coach is immune.
Junkie, the arse is outta her.
At this point, I don´t care if the Habs win or not, I would rather see them come out and play some old skool, dirty hockey with the nasty hits, fights, revenge scrums, etc and lose rather than watch them try to out-play the tougher teams that ARE playing a physical game and be annihilated. The goal tending: WTF happened there?. It´s pro level hockey with pro level salaries so there is a degree of obligation to, as with music , perform correctly or get replaced.
The team is struggling with injuries and you decide to put your smallest forward who happens to be your best goal scorer/best shooter/best stick handler to absorb abuse in front of the net on the PP? Another genius move from Marty. 🤡
Not to excuse Monty’s play, but lets remember he did sustain a groin tear in the playoffs last season, I think that even if he’s fully healed, this has to be in his head since then (I know it would be for me, even for everyday stuff). Most players coming back from a major injury have a less productive season untill they get back confidence of their body. So he must be moving around with a level hesitation to not get injured, and goalies can’t have any hesitation in their play. This has to affect his performance.
As for Xhekaj, I agree, he’s not been himself, but also, being himself is not always good.. meaning that if he gets too many penalties, he’s not helping the team.. He still needs to learn how to manage his agression and stay on the ice. He already has 30 PIM in only 19 games, just as a reference, of a similar type of physical player, Shea Weber had 38 PIM in his last full season (78 games) in MTL. I know Arber is not Shea, and fights a lot more, so this increases his minutes, but if he wants to stay in the NHL, or at least play some meaningful minutes, he needs to become as close to what Weber was defensively. He has all the tools to be physically as close to Weber than anyone since him.
I agree 💯 junkie. They fucked around with arber. Now he's all messed up. His best seasons were his 1st and 2nd.
“PP is poo poo” 🤣
Dobes seems like he gets very emotional, or is impacted a lot by little things. It might be a good idea if the team makes sure he has a sports psych or something to keep him grounded. Don't want them ending up with a Robin Lehner situation.
Arber hasn’t been the same since he got destroyed by Deslauriers, which of course is nothing to be ashamed about. Deslauriers is a killer. But I think it’s messing with his swagger.
When the whole team goes to shite, you gotta take a look at the coaching staff .. what the hell is going on with those guys ?
nice breakdown!
Fire the fucking goalie coach immediately. How the fuck do we have 2 goalies who have no idea how to stay in front of their net, let alone stop pucks. Seriously wtf is that guy doing over there. They're both swimming out there like they never put pads on their entire life. Fucking embarrassing.
I’m convinced that Wilson could walk onto the ice in sneakers with a Remington and start opening fire, and NHL player safety wouldn’t do shit about it.
This team needs a sports psychologist. I know it’s blasphemy for me to suggest this is more mental than physical, but these guys are a good team, and they have lost a lot of their good players, can’t trust any goalie, and the goalies don’t trust themselves. Get some mental work in boys. Signed: a behavior analyst.
My TOTs are… If you like Tom Wilson, you like Matt Cooke.
Lost all confidence in this shitty team. Coach has lost the room completely
Marty is great at bringing out the best in players but sucks at putting together a line up and actual in game coaching. Caufield i love him but his not top line material, dude does notthing but score goals, suzuki and slaf and now bolduc doing all the gritty dirty work just to set him up for a shot that he likes. Half the time when a team mate passes him the puck on the rush bro aint even looking on purpose because he is scared to receive it. They traded away Armia but kept Josh Anderson, dumb move by far. Suzuki is struggling because he is playing with numb nuts. Power play sucks ass for 1 reason, no one is shooting, If you watch any other team they firing pucks on net, many of our powerplays go shotless. We been out shot basically every game this season. I can go on and on about all the problems…. But back to basics, they need to at least make a top line that works and then work from there. It has to be suzuki, slaf, and a 3rd big guy maybe Laine when he comes back, but Armia wouldve been a much better fit then patrick laine on that top line. 3 big guys all can protect and hold the puck and excellent defensively. Caufield needs to work out and step up his 200 foot game or Marty needs to put him together a line that will work for his play style, guys who will hold the puck battle in corners and set him up. Suzuki and slaff have too much talent of their own to be working full time for Caufield. Gally, Anderson cant buy a goal, idk what their issue is, maybe caufield can center that line, they can protect him and do the dirty work for him to score and im sure his play making ability will bring their numbers up as well. I feel bad for demidov because the kid is scared near the boards and its affecting his confidence and i dont blame the kid, he could easily be injured. Anyhow the whole thing is a broken clusterf*ck. Dach needs to be traded away his a new Drouin, i guarantee you when he gets back he will be out with an injury shortly after again, he is no contender by no means. Evans been showing improvements last 3 years and had 0 opportunity on power play or never seen top lines. Talk about equal treatment, while Caufield goes from AHL to top line. Sad part is no matter how good Evans performs he is still surrounded by 3rd liners. This organization is in serious trouble. We have talent we have skill but we cant use it properly. That's just beyond me. Last few years been horrible and i thought i was wrong on my takes because of how we started this season, but no… the bubble has burst and i wont doubt myself again. Goalies are not doing that well but Dobes is a great goalie if not great he is good enough to win games and the team is to blame. Most games he was playing well. Hutson is also great but he doesnt need to play like he is carrying the team on his shoulders like McDavid, he needs to simply be a part of the team and just do his part. I feel like he is overdoing it alot, its flashy and fun to watch but only when we are up. So ive been talking way too much at this point, Final say is Marty doesnt know what he is doing with the team. He is not treating players equally, and he sucks at putting together lines from what we have available. Dominique Ducharme saw Caufield for what he was, and always played him accordingly. You can talk all trash to me that you want but under Ducharme i have seen caufield in AHL and on Top line in the playoffs, so dont come at me. Marty clearly picking favorites and its not going to end well. This isnt an ego battle we are building a team at the end of the day.
WSH is also a super underrated team. they will reach the play off.
"This team is different"
Marty is the biggest issue. Dobes was hot then Marty sat him for a long period. Marty is holding Arber back. Marty isn't throwing shit on the ice when the refs are being biased.
Hard to win vs refs who dont wanna call pens.
8:03 I wouldn’t say that teams get a free pass because Strubbles has been stirring other guys like against Ottawa vs Nick Cousins but often guys get targeted and it’s like you have to ask for a response from their teammates. But Arber is definitely playing with the staff at the back of his mind since last season
Habs called up Florian Xhekaj, they arent calling him for his scoring, obviously, he has 2 goals and 2 assists in Laval this year, i believe, somewhere close to that anyway. They r calling him up for his toughness. St Louis cuts Arber's balls off for taking penalties, and then calls his little brother up…to basically take penalties. I know a lot of people like St Louis, and i do too, he's great for younger goal scorers, but there are many other facets to hockey, not everyone is Cole Caufield, or Nick Suzuki, unfortunately, we could use another 4 Suzukis, and 4 Caufields!
Monty has been horrible. Also let Arbor loose – the team loves him when hes acting as himself and not afraid to get benched.
Monty has had poor positioning all year and too many high quality chances are two of the main problems. Dobes is doing his job as a backup and learning the game at 24. Montambault looks finished. Slow, no confidence and poor positioning. I don't see him recovering as he was a .900 goalie and now on the decline at 29.
Habs are playing like a rec hockey team courtesy of st. Louis..no physicality from the habs defense gets destroyed from this..they're not physical..that's st. Louis hockey for you.
