It’s Going From BAD To WORSE For The Montreal Canadiens!

For the first time since the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals met in the NHL playoffs last spring, the two teams matchup Thursday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Alex Ovechkin had four points, including his 33rd NHL hat trick, to move into the top 10 in points in NHL history, and the Washington Capitals beat the Montreal Canadiens 8-4. Sam Montembeault allowed three goals on 10 shots, Jakub Dobes made 21 saves in relief and Brendan Gallagher and Joe Veleno got their first goals of the season for the Canadiens in the loss.

Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico will bring you a LIVE presentation, Friday at 12P (ET) to recap all the action as the Habs look to end a four game losing streak after facing a Capitals team that played their second game in as many nights.

Join the boys LIVE for their reaction to the game and weigh in LIVE on the show with your own reactions, comments and questions!

  1. In addition to the poor play by the Canadiens, the referees have taken two games away from the Habs: in Edmonton, and last night against Washington. That's 4 points they can't get back. 😮

  2. I think St. Louis has castrated Xhekaj. Xhekaj certainly does not have the same temperament he had when he first joined the team. Result – nobody respects the Habs even in our own house.

  3. i think they lose focus cauz of the frustration of bad goalies, everytimes they start dominating, opponent have the puck for 15secs after 5min domination and goalies give a shit goal . its not the same giving up goals when youre leading 3-0 in a game and when its like 2-3 and youre dominating. i think some players are getting frustrated and losing concentration from that and you see many mistakes now. Canadiens was dominating alot in this game and it was shit goals after shit goals. so yeah.. i think we can just wait until you see some good saves and youll see way less random mistakes.

  4. Marco, I agree with you that the refereeing is making the game less relevant. The NHL needs to rid of the instigator rule to avoid cheap shots, it would let the players settle issues.

  5. november is not bottom 6 fault, it was 0-17 in powerplay and shit goalies, lets be real. we would have win some games probably if we could score 5v3 too. / Mike Matheson is amazing / and now that we suck its gonna snowball into make it harder to bring good players but we have two top 6 prospect(if zharovsky can gain 20pounds of muscle) and a goalie coming next year…

  6. SOOOO if things aren't going well…let's blame Arber,I think the coaches are sending the wrong messages holding back the reins on Arber ,so what is he suppose to do go against the coaches, seems like to me Arber is the punching bag for these coaches,& I find he is playing well for the amount of ice time he gets.

  7. dont force anything, but dont tank on purpose let the players do their best on the ice. i would love to keep armia but when you look at our starting lineup this season he would have been bordeline 13th forward, and hes too good to be used as a 13th forward. who would you have benched at the start of the season? we couldnt keep him unfortunately

  8. Habs coaches are at least partially to blame for the inept team defence and terrible goaltending. Team is looking like the early months from last year. Additionally, where are the team leaders!

  9. No need to panic. Stay the course with the rebuild. They will learn from their success/lack of success. We are still 3 yrs away from a finished product.

  10. Marco needs to wake up. Xhejak has been neutered by MSL and his little bother will be as well. MSL does not want these guys letting the ref know that he missed the bus. Montreal needed the Xhejak that took Stulze's head off because of what his team mate Ridley did to Dach. MSL does not want it, clearly so the Wilson cheap shot will continue and the refs will never call it. Maybe when Hutson is smoked so bad that his career is endedd will he wake up.

  11. You guys have contradictory comments saying you wouldn’t go and get experienced players like Stamkos but the team never replaced Armia and Dvo… i would replace them WITH players like Stamkos and a defensive defenseman… that would bring the needed Cup experience and defensive stability they need right now …

  12. Man, you guys are full of excuses today, everyone is playing a lot of games in short spans, except their goalies stop the puck.

  13. If they bring Fowler up it better be while on the road. For a few games where Dobes can go down and regain his confidence.

  14. "Red hot" my ass, he was spoon fed the easy games on the schedule and that's the limit his strength. Especially now. They should have never pulled Monty last night for two reasons. First off, look at the bounce back he had against Utah. He turned that game around and stood on his head after a couple of "bad goals". You killed any confidence that Dobes had with that stupidity putting him in there in that bad situation that he's not ever going to be the guy for. They absolutely have to go to Monty against the Leafs

  15. Lane Hutson is very good but sometimes he does think he is all alone on the ice & he goes too deep in the offensive zone & looses the puck & the opposition goes in the other direction & scores killing the legs of the team!

  16. No surprise the team is small when they play big heavy teams. For years have wondered what it is with small players and the Habs no one can answer?!

  17. What is it with small players that the Habs continue to draft. Currently there are at
least half a dozen players sub six foot on the team not counting what's in Laval.
