@Anaheim Ducks

He really sticked it to him…

The Anaheim Ducks fell 2–0 to the Minnesota Wild in a frustrating night loaded with high-sticking penalties, but Petr Mrázek was outstanding and kept the game close. Mason McTavish racked up more penalties and ended up demoted again, while the Ducks’ best scoring chances somehow came shorthanded on the penalty kill. Head coach Joel Quenneville kept shuffling lines — even reuniting Frank Vatrano, Ryan Strome, and Troy Terry — but the offense couldn’t break through. Anaheim went 7-for-7 on the PK, yet the turnover issues and lack of rush chances continue to be a problem as teams adjust to the Ducks’ speed-first style. With three straight losses, the Ducks look to bounce back at home against Utah as injuries to Mikael Granlund and Ryan Poehling continue to shake up the lineup. #nhl #anaheimducks #minnesotawild #hockey

  1. This season's over. Verbeek is now clearly now on the hot seat. Resigning McTavish has proven to be a major mistake, there is no defense, overreliance on top 6 forwards, Dostal not meeting expectations as a goalie, Ownership having zero involvement with this team. Verbeek needs to go and the Samuelis need to sell this team to someone who is more serious with hockey operations. Best thing Ducks can do now is sell all their season tickets on Stub Hub and then refuse to go to anymore games this season and future seasons onwards. This team is a freaking joke.

  2. sigh I'll be very tired but heading into California from Japan in a bit to see the Mammoth game tomorrow ^_^. I hope we win! 🤩🤩🤩

  3. Well, we all saw this coming after realizing the start was too good to be true. This is more in line with what we expected. But, with that said, there is no excuse in the amount of penalties, the invisibility of McT and the decline of Terry when not paired with Carlsson. Also, why you would shuffle the first and second line after a loss but great game vs the Avs and a loss vd the RedWings, is beyond me. It messed up everything and basically ruinied the whole first period. I don't want to se any of the young guys playing with speed on any line that includes Killorn… Just dont.

  4. So what was that line shuffling in the first all about? I mean you had the hottest 2 lines in the league, and after one bad game, you switch them up? The bottom two lines are still a hot mess. And McT taking what 6 minutes in penalties in the first 30 seconds? I mean, what, out of 7 penalties, 5 were just lazy sticks high instead of making body contact. Seems like certain players have begun to coast. And the sad thing is, right now, I'd rather have Harkins in the game than Killorn, Strome, Vatrano, Nesterenko, and possibly even McPenalty. He doesn't have the skills, but he gives 100% every shift. Ross, taking out the goalie, and no one on the Wild wanted anything to do with him, and instead went after someone 15 feet away from the play.

  5. Unlike Cronin, coach Q will address MacTavish’s issues. Just going through the ups and downs of a budding playoff teams.

  6. This was really frustrating to watch (again). The penalties are unacceptable and there needs to be a serious statement made about it. McT for me is in hot water. Perhaps drastic, but either he needs to sit out / stay on a lower line. Can he go to the AHL Gulls? I don’t know the rules to that, but if he is going to keep taking these penalties a message needs to be sent and he can sort out his stuff with the Gulls and we can bring back Colangelo. I know that must be drastic, but the message isn’t getting across so I don’t know how you get it through to him.

I feel like the Red Wings were the ones who, “cracked the code” on the ducks with their physical play. We aren’t physical, and when you disrupt our rhythm we suffer. Boston is going to wreck us in a few days, especially after we squeezed a win by then earlier.

I don’t know what happens moving forward. I want to be hopeful but based on how these last three games have gone I’m wondering if this, “coming back to earth” is going to look more like a full on “crash and burn”. I want/hope I am wrong. Go Ducks

  7. They're playing like a young team, it'll be streaky, but at least there are ups to go with downs, and they'll make the playoffs. Consistency should improve over time.

  8. The Ducks are in a horrible position now. They are neck and neck with every other team in the Pacific. What do I mean?- If they lose one more game, they could easily become fifth in the Pacific division.

    Pacific Standings:
    LA – 24
    ANA – 23
    SEA – 23
    EDM – 22
    VGK – 21
    SJ – 19
    VAN – 18
    CGY – 13

If San Jose keeps their streak up, they will pass the ducks in the standings, leaving the ducks in the sixth position in the Pacific.

As of right now, there's a very real possibility that the ducks will not make the playoffs.

  9. As a wild fan who watches your videos the Wild have the fortune of solid goal tending. The ducks faced Jesper "The wall of St. Paul" Wallstedt who now thanks to this game has two consecutive shutout performances. Ducks had chances and some decently good ones but Wallstedt is the Wild's Star Goalie prospect for a reason.

  10. I felt like our guys kept fanning on the puck and losing edges when trying to stride which hurt us in simply possessing and moving the puck. Did anyone else notice that?

  11. Commented on the last video on Mason’s lack of discipline….this season has kinda shown me why Beeker hesitated to pull the trigger on his contract. Gotta give credit where credit is due because I wanted him to pay the guy.

You don’t get to 2nd in all time wins being a one dimensional coach. Wasn’t hoping to see this, but this tough stretch makes me excited because it’ll show us what this team is really made of.

Awesome work with the videos. I look forward to every single one of them!

  12. Almost an entire period of penalty minutes given away this game. At least it was good PK practice!

  13. Your last video I said McTavish needs to clean up him game and lower the penalties. So much for that. Dude is reckless out there.

  14. I guess the win streak got to their heads a bit. I kind of want to make a "Team USA" vs. "Ducks" mentality joke from the movies XD

  15. Teams are taking the ducks seriously now, there’s more pressure on the puck and passes and no one is left unmarked in the slot or in front of the net.

They are getting teams best shot and will need to adjust.

Obv with the margin being smaller the dumb penalties and mistakes need to be cleaned up

  16. Teams attitude looked different. Less confident and less swagger on the ice. Too many penalties, but the PK was good and lucky. Need to get back to simple – skate fast, shoot the puck, crash the net to set up a screen or knock in a rebound. 4th line needs to increase the forecheck, create chaos and turn over. Let’s get back to scoring, no penalties and persistent pressure on the puck. Just got some new Ducks gear – going orange hoodie for the game tonight. Go Ducks!

  17. And people want to say Z can't play defense? Mac T has gotten worse in that department, and if it doesn't get addressed immediately its going to be a massive problem down the stretch. I think Q is taking steps in the right direction so far by butchering his play time and putting him in the bottom pairings. Hoping its back to business tonight at Honda! LETS GO!
