The Montreal Canadiens are hurt and their depth is really being test now. The Habs give up a lot of goals against and yet their team shooting percentage remains at the top of the NHL. Do the Habs need more of that stay-at-home type of blueliner? We have talked a lot about the Montreal Canadiens need for a solid 2C, but what about more experience on their blueline? Is that an area you’d like to see Habs management tackle?

Let us know what you think!

  1. I think they should fall back into the original plan and bring up the kids, have them see who works and who does not and hopefully make some strong trades closer to deadline. there should be no panic for this team right now. that Beecher player seems like a good fit for the interim.

  2. Emile Heineman is killing it miss him already
Let's face it' Habs drafting has been great and a little lucky, but there trades below average
Newhook Dach loosing Romanov and Heineman

  3. Yeah, it's not the year to push to be a contender yet, especially with the injuries. Don't sacrifice any future for right now type guys like Kadri, Reilly and Stamkos.

  4. Thx Marco for pointing out that when we consistently allow 3 goals and over it’s on rage defensive schemes and not the goalie. So the goalies are not responsible for the current state of affairs. Just like early last year where their defensive scheme was constantly collapsing and regularly letting in 5, 6 even 8 goals in the fall games last year.

  5. I know Guhle is a good defencemen when he’s healthy… he makes 5.5m for on average he plays 50% of the games so he really makes 11 m … he’s a great player but he’s almost on the level of Dach for his injuries if not he’s getting there tbh

  6. I think Rasmus Abdersson would be a nice fit. The only Calgary Flame I would be interested in. Another guy I got my eye on is… Devon Levi, seems like his time in Buffalo might be coming to an end, he would be an interesting add for MTL even though we have Fowler and everything. Maybe a big trade also involving Tage Thompson or Alex Tuch. Some sort of a trade would be nice to see, but damn we just need to get healthy.

  7. what i see is that Lane take so mutch chance now and he is get cut at the rong place more often and on Power play they put someone in front of there goaler

  8. Perspective: if the Habs win tomorrow, they have 25 points in 20 games, which is 100+ point pace. They will be okay

  9. Go with the kids but get a great goalie. Remember Carey Price, they had crappy teams but he kept them in lots of games. With these players out it severely hurts secondary scoring. It will show which players are capable of giving it all and are leaders. I think it might help Slaf, Anderson, Kappanen, Demidov. No time to blow up the plan. The pan was to make a run for the cop in 2027.

  10. Marco makes solid points and I believe he is mostly right. I differ on the goalie comments. There have been too many soft stoppable goals. Goalies have to steal a goal once in a while to be a true number 1. Really do need a number 2 center though. Lots of great observations on that. Great show guys!

  11. That Columbus 1st goal was horrible, I was watching the D skate in 30 ft and score, I was like is anyone going to challenge him? Total collapse

  12. Habs success is overly dependent on aggressive forechecking in the offensive zone. This hard skating style is not sustainable over 82 games. They need to learn how to shutdown the neutral zone.

This is why the team struggles in the 2nd period with the long change. They need to figure out a neutral zone trap system to be used when aggressive forechecking is not possible.

  13. The goaltenders (Dobes also, of late) have been below standard. Make a save, help with team confidence. We have some chicken/egg conversations going on over time here.

  14. That is exactly why we need a competent 2nd line center , centers need to block the front of the crease that's there job !! It's not rocket science , cut center ice for turn overs , block center ice on defense , push the players towards the boards keep them there ! THATS DEFENSE ! ITs the best time tested way to play it creats turnovers 9 times out of ten !

  15. I'm not in the shoes of KH or others in the organisation but here's my question :

If the Habs organisation is claiming that they are still in the rebuild process.

Why in the hell they wouldn't sign back Armia and Dvorak in order to sign Veleno over everyone in Laval ?

I wouldn't make a big deal of it if the 4th line had the ice time of 80's & 90's 4th liners were unforcers were playing like 4 minutes a game.

But in today's hockey, and especially with Martin St-Louis' tactics, the 4th line is playing QUITE ALOT. Sometimes AROUND 10 minutes a night !!

Second liners barely have more ice time then Veleno SOME Games !!!

I couldn't stress this out enough, why in the hell Veleno is playing and not a drafted habs with way more potential ?

  16. They need a physical RHD because Reinbacher will take time. Hutson goes back left and this D would go to another level imo.

  17. So for Marco to talk about the center, other teams have center depth etc, well it goes back to Montreal NOT having center depth. We have 1 good centerman, so once again the focus should be on getting a #2 center

  18. They should be targeting 2 big young energetic guys for the 3rd or/and 4th line , they need to replace Gallagher and Veleno with size and speed . Montreal don’t need to go get and overpay for a player right now . They need 2 left handed players that are over 6’3. Enough of the underachieving or aging players on the checking lines.

If the have had Joel Armia and dvorak in their lineup still , instead of gallgher and Veleno , they be a top 3 team in the league

Sorry but Gallgher is done and Veleno never had it . I’m not even talking about getting a superstar , just two big left handed shot checkers who can contribute more than Veleno and Gallagher

Can’t wait till 2027 , when all those injury prone players are let go off , I’d even trade Guhle as soon as he’s healthy for a week in a row .

Guhle , Laine and the Dach experiment has lasted long enough , time to move the F on !

  19. The habs need to make moves that will help them for years to come, about Sherwood in Vancouver ? Schenn in stlouis , svechkov or McCarron in Nashville? Montreal need size .

  20. Marco to your point the Kapanen goal against Columbus they cycled beautifully and that created the opportunity for the goal.

  21. starr & dimico MSL is the problem.. when does arby & jaden get steady ice time? and if you mention Savard’s name and blocking shots as being good, I will never watch your dumb video again.. Savard was one of the worst defenseman in the league. He was a goalie screener and human Zamboni.. year in and year out the worst hockey teams are the ones that block more shots. They are non-aggressive and just like Damico said not pushing the guys out farther Marty St. Louis system is sitting in a shell that’s why we stunk for the last four years… our team is fine. We need leadership at the coaching position and at our captain position you can keep both guys on the team, but you have to get somebody on the bench. Who knows what the hell they are doing and someone on the ice who has a little more ballsand grit

  22. The 1st month schedule was easy. The 2nd month much harder and now with injuries. Not complicated. Their point% is settling at around 0.550-0.580 where they will be battling for a playoff spot.

  23. For some reason we have both D tackling the same area either in the corner or behind the net leaving a forward to take the front of the net. Where did this structure come from? Kids in minor hockey are told that the offence can’t score from the corner.

  24. only real hab homers can't understand these small smurfy teams the franchise loves, never works, never has worked. Their D is a joke – Hutson, Carrier, Matheson, Dobson – total soyboys and smurfs, play very small. It's hilarious to watch everyone defend this group of goof troops and smurfs Kent has assembled. Oh and the only guys getting benched aren't french? Too funny , but Veleno and Carrier continue to blunder on without an issue.

  25. Solid d-core brings me back to the Weber-Chiarot- edmundson and Pricey ! Nobody would be parked in front of the net. Geeez what does it take to bring that back, you need some of that ! Our boys are soft as shit, lets just be honest

  26. It's team defence that should be considered, not just the backend. Improve on that. The 4th line could use some improvement. If Jake Evans could win a defensive zone faceoff, that might help too! Maybe it's just me, but he seems to lose a lot in his own end.
