@Edmonton Oilers

You’re not supposed to say this on TV…

We need to talk about a pretty funny moment where Rob Ray took down Stuart Skinner. More on that, the Buffalo – Oilers game, and the struggles of the Edmonton Oilers on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. Sabres broadcast crew are honestly the most biased and whiny ive heard in all the NHL. Never critical of their own team and constantly crying about penalties that dont go the Sabres' way. Every other local crew ive heard is pretty neutral, hell the jets and oilers crews are often harder on their own team during analysis. Its just so funny to me given how terrible the Sabres are that their color commentary is so self righteous.

  2. Reminds me of the comment Joe Bowen made about the Thrashers when Toronto was playing them in Atlanta. Harry Neale said “you know the Thrashers have about 5 different Jersey designs” and Bowen goes “well they gotta have something to sell, it’s not like they sell any tickets” lol.

  3. 2 thought, best backup has to be wedgewood since he’s actually muscling Mackenzie Blackwood out of a starter role, and 2 skinner is hung out to dry so often. They need to buyout Nurse. Been saying it for years and I’m not even an oilers fan.

  4. I love how oilers fans keep saying "Skinner played amazing!" When the team wins.
But when he loses its never his fault.
    He's had 5 out of 15 games above 890% he's a joke

  5. I’m not defending the announcer, but the inconsistency of Stuart Skinner over the last 3 seasons especially when timely saves are needed is just beyond frustrating to watch. And when he’s on, he’s for sure on. But when he’s playing at replacement level goaltending level it looks like the game is just too much for him. He also plays in Canada, gonna have to expect better than this in order to survive in that market. As a Bruins fan I’m rooting for him, but the untimely miscues and lack of accountability paired with an overall lack of skill, minus 1 or 2 hot streaks out of the year, proves this expirement SHOULD have already been over if EDM is serious about a cup window with McDraisaitl

  6. @EckHockey honestly stuart skinner has been good this year he’s made good save and has shown his talent he’s not the problem the oilers defense is . they let other team screens just sit in front of him for every shot on net. it’s not like he’s letting in weak shots and ya ik he’s not a superstar and that ya sometimes he will have an off night but the goals he’s letting in aren’t his fault like if you watch their goals against 9/10 times skinner will be screened i see it on every goal. it’s like the defense don’t know how to box out or are scared to. and just logically speaking i feel that skinner would’ve been gone long ago if the 2 gms across his career wanted to keep him when they had multiple opportunities to shaft him. they seee his skill and how he is making good saves and that’s why they kept him. look at jack campbell he sucked and they got rid of him pretty fast and they didn’t even have any options other than skinner. also the amount of break away the oilers have let up this year is insane and even then skinner comes up on a really good amount of them look at the philly game or the canes game skinner had some support and he stole the games the oilers actually played physical on d i’m not saying g they were laying the boom but they weren’t letting the other teams camp in the crease. All im saying is i wish more people would look at it this way instead of instantly blaming him, just look at the next game and see if they box out and if they do i guarantee skinner will have a 910+. all in all i strongly believe skinner is easily able to be a 910 goalie but he needs d to get there u cant just put everything on him

  7. I do NOT agree with you at all on the title. First of all word policing is for the WOKE, 2nd of all Stu does leave the crease way to much to try making up for the Oilers BAD defense. Last of all Razor is broadcasting on a network for Sabres fans. I am pretty sure stu leaving the blue paint often as the game played out added to his statement. I'll ask you this… If it was a hot mic of a player chirping that, would that have been ok? or would it have hurt stus feelings? It is fair game for ex players that broadcast to still be allowed to chirp in their barn.

  8. As an Oilers fan, he just said what each and every one of us was thinking out loud. Oilers literally held the net vacant for 3 minutes.

  9. Skinner hasn't been great and neither have the Oilers, but what has Buffalo done in the past 14 years? MJ from TSN raised that question on OD yesterday….

  10. If you don’t wanna dunked on, just win the game. In this case, I don’t even mind the roasting here. Getting their collective butts kicked 9-1 by the Avs still didn’t teach them anything.

  11. Skinner gets so many excuses. It's not just a sheet of paper with goals for and against. If he keeps them in it, they feel like they can win and will try harder. If he's swiss cheese, they probably don't even see the point in giving it their all since Skinner will blow it anyway. Also defense is trash. Bouchard is a such an overpaid joke.

  12. the stupid part is skinner isn't even to blame lol, he had a positive GSAx both in the game and on the entire season
but sure, lets blame the goalie for mcdavid and draisaitl's team scoring one single goal on the goddamn sabres lol

  13. Skinner is slow. We watched him in the playoffs. At this point, he's better as a backup then to be #1 for the Oilers.

Great talent dont get me wrong. Still has a chance to fix his mistakes. I think needs to work on his physical being. Takes so much stealth and strength to be a goaltender.

But that was a roast on live TV, #cringe

  14. In the second round of the Maidana Broner fight, Larry Merchant said " they think Maidana may have blown his wad " which of course is the second definition of the phrase given the context, completely ignoring that the first definition of the phrase isn't safe for television.
