The Buffalo Sabres shut down Connor McDavid and the Oilers in four-goal win

In what was probably the most complete effort of the season, the Buffalo Sabres blowout the Edmonton Oilers with a 5-1 win at Key Bank Center, led by a two-goal night from Noah Ostlund. Are Ostlund and Isak Rosen playing well enough to warrant keeping them in the lineup permanently? Lindy Ruff will have tough decisions to make when Jason Zucker, Zach Benson, and Josh Norris return.

Plus, how the Sabres completely shutdown Connor McDavid and the Oilers’ top line, deploying Tyson Kozak, Jordan Greenway, and Peyton Krebs in that matchup. And Colten Ellis gives the Sabres another strong effort. Should they keep riding him as their starting goalie?

  1. Ellis is the real deal. What a fantastic game last pm. Moved well across the crease and unreal rebound control. If he plays consistently like that maybe the boys can creep up the standings.

  2. Edmonton Looked awful, we will see in Edmonton in 11 games when the sabres are on a 6 game road trip 😨

  3. That was easily their most impressive win. Even some of the earlier games, like the 8-goal Ottawa game just felt like a dreadful goaltender on the other end, or the other team had a back-to-back. In this season's NHL, I don't think there is much room to not show up to a game, and the Oilers were rightfully run out of the building. They need to keep going though, with the worst team in the league next and the road trip from hell coming up soon.

  4. Savoe is a center not a winger still a young player evaluate after several years. Youngsters playing for role on Sabres but once injured players come back (Benson, Morris) back to Rochester while Quinn, Krebs, Geenway occupying spots . Then there is LEVI promising player forgotten by fans bc Ellis,Lyon playing solid. GM Adams needs to address the backlock & Tuch situation bc without proven vet presence we cant rely on rookies again.
