OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at the game last night between the Montreal Canadiens and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jackets won this game in OT, by a score of 4-3.. And it’s time to rip the bandaids off and pinpoint some of the issues that have been preventing the MTL canadiens from winning games lately. Lets talk about it..

I was just joking around with someone yesterday saying you can get numbers to say anything. AND I MEAN ANYTHING. At some point recently the Habs were -17 for goals in the second and third period. And I noted this is when Arber plays the least. Gets benched 10 minutes of play at a time (unless the game is way out of reach which if you account for that, it's even a higher ratio) . Yeah, what can I do. I'm a simp for Xhekaj. Maybe it's because I got benched a lot before I went back to my first love, goaltending.
Old Quebecer here, I stopped believing in that team 8 years ago. It's as if they were cursed, always the same, they do well until they flop, last cup in 1993.
I’d still take your team over my leafs lol. You guys are going to be a menace for awhile
What is happening? The Retardsky effect! What is the retardsky effect? Simple. Its guy i won't name that is wearing number 20… This guy has an IQ less than an oreao cookie. He can't do anything. Can't pass, can't shoot, can't make play, h ecan't even play physical… In otherword, worthless. Worst than that, there's a bunch of undereducated idiots, all thinking he is a good player because the media, which belong to the same group btw, keeps saying good thing about him to brainwash those same idiots. So said idiots can't see the truth. Which is freakin obvious. I had this impresssion last year that each time he touches the puck, the play dies. So this years, I recorded all games. I watched them as everyone does; just enjoy the show. And then I re watch them but this time, i focus on retardsky. Each time he touches the puck, or receive a pass, i put a tick on a sheet. And for each tick, i write the output. Eitehr the play dies, either it goes on. So lest begin buy defining the terms. I count as "having the puck", everythime he actually is in possesion of the puck, or the times he gets a pass, a good pass, and because he sucks so much, that he can't receive it and loses it. In these conditions, it counts because he is the one at fault. On the other hand, if it was a bad pass or a suicide pass, i don't count it because he is not the one at fault. So these are the ticks. Now what do i consider a play killed? If he makes a bad pass, or suicide pass like he does most of the time, and that the play effectively dies, it counts as a dead play on his part. And i'm being generous, if his bad pass is converted to a good play by the receiver somehow, i'm not giving him a dead play. Even if he deserves this. I simply erase the tick. The entire play doesn't count at all because he did somehow killed the play, but his team mate saved the day. If he shoots the puck but misses the net and the opponent gets control of the subsequent play. Its a dead play. Again if the teams keeps control, i'm doing him a favor and I do not count the fact that if it weren't for his linemates who coprrected him bad play, he would have caused another one. If he looses control of the puck, dead play. If he give thes puck to the opponent, dead play. In short, everytime he touches the puck, or should touch the puck (he couldn't catch a tape to tape pass), and the habs losses the puck right after that, its a dead play. Well guess what? Despite all the slack I gave him, despite all the benefit of the doubt i gave him, he still has a 83% ratio of killing the play!!! 83%!!! That's ASTRONOMICAL. If I don't give him the benefit of the doubt because because after all, if i consider only HIS play, it jumps to 91%. In other words, he's the guy when you go play to the local rink, that no one wants to give the puck to because everyone knows he's going to give it to the opponent. He's the one the opponent are talking about in the players' room saying "don't cover him, lets force his linemates to give him the puck so he can give it back to us no effort needed". 83 friggin percent….I mean i knew he was bad as fuck but i never imagined he was that bad. And THAT crap is on your first line! Imagine if the first line didn't have to pull his weight how good they would be. But wait… Last years I was also into the impression that Caufield was also mostly in the same position. He couldn't do a pass, couldn't dangle, couldn't outskate and most of the time, he was also killing the plays ;eft and right. And I was right. Last year Caufield was killing the plays arount 60% of the time (can't remember exactly). And many times, when he was about to be checked, he would just throw the puck anywhere to avoid being hit. Now to his credit, I have to say that he changed a lot. I don't see this kind of unacceptable behavior. The guys in the room probably told him to stop acting like a f*** pussy. All of that to say that I changed my mind about Suzuki. I always thought he was good. Very good in fact. But after analyzing both of his linemates play, this guy is fucking awasome. DESPITE having a guy adraid to play in the nhl, and one who has the abilitites of a peewee, he still managed to get those numbers! Give him two GOOD linemates and he would probably be in the 4 or 5 best players in the league. HE is making players around him look much better than they are. Not unlike Mario Lemieux did.
Conclusion, we are seing the REAL habs. We are FAR from being a good team yet. We are an ok team. I think we left the bottom of the league, and we can see we have a bright futur ahead, but we certainly are not regular playoff material yet. I too was taken a bit in the over evaluating us. But now the reality is catching up. I'm not a hater, i'm not negative. I'm just being objective. We won many games this year that we didn't deserve. We were lucky as shit and in just a few games, a small sample, its normal that the numbers are misleading. Its like a player that scors a hat trick at the first game of the season. Does anyone really believe that he will score 3 game per game till the end of the season? Of course not. Then why the hell are you guys thinking that the habs could keep up being lucky like that all season long? Now do your homework like I did and you'll see just how miserable retardsky is.
bro I hate the people who are disrespecting the habs. They're a great team and just experiencing a little bad stretch. You gotta believe man
put Kähkönen between the goal posts. can't be worse than this
WHAT THE.. I needed a warning before seeing that clip of Newhook 😧
Time is giving us the picture that a Wild Card is still likely.
Emil H. has 9 goals playing on the first line with Horvat.
Dobson and Carrier are not playing well. They both are soft, and get out of position, not inside the play.
0/17…. Yikes
It's good they got injured early in the season so they can come back and win the cup.
They need to get bigger and play bigger and SHOOT THE PUCK. Goaltending improves when the Habs score and the only way to score is to SHOOT.
I didn't think Dobes was a liability in that game. There were no cheap goals. Canadiens gave them quality chances. Dobes is the young backup and is 6-1-2. He is not hurting the team, he is anything but a problem. I certainly wouldn't lump him in with Monty as far as having serious issues. The 4 injuries are hurting them and they still almost won that game. They need Guhle, that first goal was brutal how the defence let Zerenski walk in.
Gotta be time for double Xhekaj soon, right?
They didn't ride their hot goltender when he was hot and now neither is hot. Ride the hot goalie next time!
where is the game review against boston?
Im pretty sure montreal cleared the zone before the puck was in the net. That shouldve counted.
Voleno has to go, bring up, Florian. P.s SHOOT THE FKN PUCK!!
This freefall was inevitable, most of their victories were not very convincing if you ask me.
You lose Laine the PP expert and wonder why the PP sucks. You lose Dach, Newhook, etc, and put half of laval on the ice and wonder why we're struggling. As for goaltending they tried to get Askrov but failed. ( he looks some good now) but yeah a turd goalie would be good
No depth. Will miss playoffs by 4 points. Think medium term not 2025/26… ain’t happening.
ok, so like 2 weeks ago @thehockeyguy guy wore canadiens gear in a video. obviously, it is his fault. hopefully the curse lifts soon.
Give them some game they lost 4 major piece of their team thats normal they gotta fit to the change thats all
Engaging a accurate comments – as usual. IMO the coach, yes MSL, is part of the problem. Instead of shooting the puck they are playing a system. Shoot the damn puck at each and every opportunity. Backcheck but don't worry where you are in the system. The Great Canadiens teams in the past did not win with a system (read the game) – they won with talent and determination. This group has both but it seems too often than not that this coach cannot get the team up at the beginning of too many games. Who is responsible for that? Also, one last thought, bring Fowler up now because the 2 current goalies are back up goalies at best.
that goddamn 2 minute 5 on 3 was so fucking bad it made me depressed watching it
Starting to think that an 82 game schedule might be too much for today’s game. These players drop like flies
Slafkovsky slowly proving that HE is the top 6 by himself
A fish rots from the head (coach) down.
