Everything is fine… completely fine…

The Montreal Canadiens beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 at home in Montreal. Mike Matheson opened the scoring on the power play in the 1st and added an assist. The Blue Jackets equalized early in the 2nd, but Montreal regained the lead late in that period thanks to Nick Suzuki. In the 3rd, the Canadiens exploded for three straight goals—first by Lucas Condotta (his first in five games), then Jake Evans (his 100th NHL point), and finally Josh Anderson on a redirected shot from Matheson’s blast. Goalie Sam Montembeault made 25 saves. For Columbus, Dante Fabbro scored his first in nine games, but the team lost its seventh in eight.

  1. It's never as bad as it seems… well sometimes it might be… but right now, why is everyone losing their minds? Stop with the panic!

Hope you're all doing well – I think I need to do a live stream and talk to you all because I could use a boost. Miss ya.

    sleep tite.
    Whiskey

  2. Hey, we're just getting over a lot of off-season hype. The kids will be fine and I think the Habs are still a playoff team. : )

  3. I really do not know why they recalled roy. All we have seen from him is dogshit. We need some grit to change momentum at key points in the game. Dobes did okay. Good job with the upload schedule btw!!! Crazy work to put out a new video at that time with young kids brother. Keep it up

  4. florian would be a good powerfoward for demidov and kapanen imo. he just needs a little more time but if he can win board battles and parks in front of the net, we'll have a real second line good to go. as much as i like newhook, this game showed how important a powerfoward is for that second line. they had sustained offense and dangerous offense the whole time slaf was there. when he wasnt anymore they became near invisible

  5. Of course I would have liked Montreal to get the win, I was happy they were moving around more, and getting in front of the net, and taking more shots. Considering all the injuries of some key players, and the recent slump, I view it as a win due to the improvement from the last few games.

  6. Tough loss but we’ll take the point on the road while we’re in a slump. Injuries definitely don’t help, but I’m sure the boys will do just fine. Season is still young, let’s not give up hope after a few losses.

  7. 11:40 I feel like Suzuki’s drought is more so finding the last inches to put the puck in the back to the net. Because in most cases he clearly dekes the goaltender + he has arguably the best shoutouts experience from last years with crazy dekes

  8. Well, you know it's Montreal. Every two game losing streak or longer people are going to be like: "Fire St. Louis! Gorton/Hughes suck! Slaf's a bust! They need to trade Matheson so Xhekaj can get more ice time!" Yadda, yadda. I am satisfied with the progress. Even with all the injuries they have, they have played pretty hard the last couple of games. I think they are turning a corner. They didn't get a single power play the whole game, I guess Columbus are very clean. Still, lets see what they do the rest of this week. Last season they had a hard time with Washington, but both teams are different this year. Leafs are on a bad run, but they are the Leafs, they will probably play their best game against Montreal. There should be lots of drama to come.

  9. Will be okay, .. we just need a bit of luck, grit and finishing our checks.
    I wanna give Beck a chance… Thoughts??
Enjoyed watching Slaf on Second honestly, i thought it was entertaining.
Too many injuries right now its hard to find a good pace.

  10. We forget that this Habs team is young. They'll be in a battle for a WC spot in March/April and that's a good outcome for us. They battled through reffing tonight (not that we want a powerplay, right?)

Don't give up on this team! 🙂

  11. It's all coaching problems to me. I don't believe when they were winning it was because of MSL. He burns out the D too much short shifting guys usually blaming the wrong guys too.

  12. Personally, I have written Montreal off to make it into the playoffs. I find the games much more enjoyable this way. I just enjoy the occasional brilliant play from the talented guys. 👍 My expectation level has gone down to zero.

Excellent, YT channel, BTW… Extremely well done and humorous.

  13. Crap…felt like a win was deserved. 🙁
    Newhook's absense felt.
Too many missed opportunities, but at least there were plenty such.
Good on Kapanen for keeping the pace 👍
Still feel better with Dobby between the pipes than the alternative, for the time being.
Happy for the point, as always, though. 😎
On to the next one…interesting to see how the team rides out the injury chaos…

  14. Interesting take on Cole. Team isn’t finalized but it would seem logical to light it up even more to prove it’s a mistake to pass on him.🤷‍♂️

Despite the loss, the team played more like last week. Protecting the puck, and capitalizing on the takeaways.

  15. Hi Whiskeylung! Love your stuff, seriously.
Tiny confession though: living in Sweden means I basically never catch games live, so I survive on Sportsnet highlights like some kind of hockey-starved vampire.

The problem? Your videos always land at the very top of my YouTube feed… and your titles sometimes spoil the result faster than I can even click “refresh”.
Totally my fault for being on the wrong side of the planet, but I just wanted to share the struggle.

I guess I’ll just have to start squinting at my screen and browse YouTube in a semi-blurred state to dodge your titles. 😀

  16. Let's talk about their shootouts. Cole is so good with that release. It's so deceptive. Let's have him keep doing what he's doing. Suzuki toys around with the goalies too much. He can easily score at will but he's going in too casual. Demidov can undress a goalie 6 ways to Sunday. But I think he's also toning it way down in the shootouts. Come on boys. Even though y'all came back, no need to leave points on the table

  17. Montreal getting a point was much needed and well done honestly. And I think we're getting too nervous just because of how much better the Habs are this season.

They're dealing with a lot on injuries atm, Dobes sadly being off of his hotstreak now aswell, even Suzuki is playing through an injury. If the team makes it through this big patch of several key players injured, I think the Habs will prove themselves to be a stronger playoff contender than we originally expected. We just need to remember that it's not a complete team at all going into these games they're losing, so showing patience and understanding is important while they figure out what they need to do.

  18. Well Whiskey…there IS reason to panic, because this is going to keep happening every year. HuGo has invested far too much in injury-prone players, and guess what? They're getting injured! It's not rocket science…but it is short-circuiting the entire rebuild. For God' sake, GET a 2C!!! Not a player who looks like a 2C four or five games a year and has never played an entire season. Find someone to take Guhle's spot, because he's no better! I suspect Reinbacher will turn out the same way. I've never trusted Newhook to stay healthy. And Laine? Forget it! A player's only worth anything if they're playing! But HuGo loves their fragile players!
