Jarry was the difference maker here, however, objectively, this team feels different, to your point for a couple of reasons:
1. Yes, we were outplayed in the 2nd and 3rd periods. (Florida, without question, is no slouch of a team — especially without Barkov and Tkachuk) BUT the Penguins were resilient.
2. The Penguins, as a collective, never quit. As I saw it, what was most promising to me at least, was that even when we got leads, we didn't just sit back. Yes, we were hemmed in a couple of times but it wasn't a sit back and lets hope to win vibe.
3. Brunicke absolutely makes a difference on the D-end compared to Jones and Clifton who, in my view, are downgrades. He should be back in the lineup.
4. Hallander. He made a fantastic backcheck to stop a potential key shot on goal and, frankly, was noticeable at times in the game. He had two opportunities, near the slot, where he just should have shot the puck. I think there are reasons for optimism there.
5. Crosby and Malkin, btw, what else can you say.
My end view: This is a win that the Penguins can build off of. It was a true test and they passed the win score but, as I am sure they will acknowledge, can tidy up in areas.
There are reasons to believe the future looks bright for the Penguins. Would also like to see Koivunen and McGroarty in the lineup too.
Thanks Dan! I agree that Jarry was the difference maker. This team just feels different overall – in a good way. They never quit. They play to win – not playing not to lose after getting a lead. Hope you get back to PIT safely and soon. I stayed up to watch the team flight on flight radar. BTW, heard your interview on the radio broadcast between periods – nice! ๐๐ง๐
This is what the Penguins are when a LOT of IF ONLY aspects go their way. If only our D can hang on, if only our goalie can stand on his head, if only our core forwards can convert power plays, if only our bottom lines can give some depth scoring. If only this team works it's backside off… Yes.. then this team is dangerous. Not expecting it to last but boy is this FUN!
Bro just stop. Youre no reporter. You can quit now or just think back to this moment 5 years from now when you still dont have anyone signing up to listen. The Kindle/Novak play was nothing like you described. He didnt even know he was getting the puck back. That play was all Novak.

LETS GO PENS!
They survived the dreaded "2 goal lead" that seemed to crush them last year!

Penguins on pace to win 61 games this year.

So appreciate the Sunrise edition. Travel safe, what wonder-filled observations with plenty of historical view of my dear dear dear Stonewall Jarry!
EK even got back to help break up a 2 on 1 after Sids goal๐ฎ
They weathered the florida storm well
Keep up the good work Dan
The penguins beat up the big cat lol
Keep up the good work
I laughed when I saw that Bobrovsky's save percentage was .688 for the game.
