Why the Bruins Are So Good This Year: 5 Keys to Their Success

The Boston Bruins are a top team in the Atlantic again, and few saw it coming, including me. In this video I breakdown the Top 5 reason I think the Boston Bruins are good this season.

I will also touch on the injuries piling up for the Boston Bruins, as it looks like Charlie McAvoy will miss some time.

  1. I love how they look but I don’t think they can sustain it — and im not referring to the dominant winning streaks (that’s a tall task for any team to maintain). I’m talking about consistently wining games over a full season. So many things have to go their way (and they have), even when things go sideways (injuries). Right now, we’re banking on Mark Kastelic and Mikey Eyssimont to continue to flirt with 20-goal paces, respectively. Casey Mittelstadt and Pavel Zacha are not known for their ‘goal scoring. It was only a matter of time but Viktor Arvidsson has always had a tough time staying healthy in his career. In short, they’re playing hard and have adopted the system to perfection but they’re also playing over their heads right now.

  2. Minten definitely gaing confidence an his 2way play is improving every game .better talent around him only be a positive..an cant believe ima say this but zadorov finally winng me over .not for the fighting thats fun an all but his play is better last year he was a statue offense just skated around him . An he didnt get involved till game was already done .

  3. Old school bruins are finally back
Hot take but one thing I didn’t like about Bergerons leadership is they didn’t have as much bite

  4. Hope Charlie is doing better. I was hoping these guys would gel and then boom surprise we are winning. Liking Zadorov and yes Swayman playing better

  5. I too would not tinker too much with the roster. The team seems unified as it is. It is much more resilient compared to last year. It is interesting to see Toronto in the basement of the division but, for once, I hope the Leafs will win enough games to stay out of the bottom five (usually, they can never lose enough to my taste).

  6. The boys are definitely starting to get the system and I haven't seen them gel like this since 17/18.

I really hope the office doesn't trade for more guys. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. With how long it's taken guys to find the groove in the system I think a deadline trade might not help.

As a non player, I have to wonder what that does to your confidence if you never get called up because Sweeney keeps acquiring guys. At what point does it slow down development staying in Providence?

  7. Won't lie, starting out, I was banking on a lottery pick. Coaching structure and buy-in seems to be making that unlikely. However, it's a deep draft, I don't care how well they are playing or if they're in a wild card spot, DO NOT become buyers at the deadline. Keep your own, and Toronto's, 1st rounders and make good selections, develop the youth (whatever you get to supplement Hagens, Zellers, Moore, etc), and I think we'll be looking pretty darn good. Oh, just an irrelevant opinion, but, I obviously love Pasta, but it feels like Zadorov is this team's leader. And I'm delighted about that.

  8. It's time for my victory lap!!!! I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO! What I'm smoking is the dopest dope you've ever smoked my friend. No crystal ball it was easy to see we were being underrated. No Lindholm or macavoy last year at all. Take a teams top 2 D men and eliminate them from the roster and see how well YOUR team does

  9. A whole host of reasons. Never the less, after being spoiled for so long and bottoming out last year, It's nice to be spoiled again. Even is it's fleeting we're still the ' Little engine that could'. Also it's encouraging when you're cup is half full because it gives validity to the whole thing. Thanks Cort!

  10. I disagree with you in regards to Mcavoy. You said he's playing great. Really? He's so overrated and he's a giveaway machine. I'm so tired of the ass kissing he gets! He is the perfect chip to trade

  11. Are you worried about the Bruins overachieving? I'm impressed they show heart and don't quit, making them fun to watch if they keep this identity. I thought they'd regress this season and fight for a wild card, but they're winning, so what can I say other than being happy with what they have this year

  12. Nice to see them in 1st place. It's fun to see Leafs fans losing their minds when you mention it to them, lol. I'm surrounded with Leafs fans. Lohrie is a pleasant surprise since the benching.

Now for a reality check. They have played few quality teams so far. This upcoming road trip will tell a lot. Not to mention the injuries piling up. They could easily go on a 4 game losing streak.

  13. The way that those players came out of being bench tells me that there’s some really good coaching happening behind the scenes to go along with the benchings.

  14. I think the strangest part of the first quarter of this season isn’t necessarily that the Bruins sit atop the Atlantic standings on November 17… but rather it’s just how flat and mediocre the Atlantic Division has been thus far, as a whole. Injuries to both Tkachuks, Barkov, and Matthews (among others) is certainly a factor, but that doesn’t explain it all.

To illustrate the overall mediocrity in the Atlantic: the first place B’s have a regulation record of 8-8-4. That’s plainly mediocre. It’s better than most Bruins fans would have anticipated two months ago (for sure), but, objectively it’s still mediocre results … for the first place team.

This isn’t throwing shade at Boston. They have outperformed expectations, while other Atlantic teams have underperformed their expectations. Ottawa is 6-6-7 in regulation. Tampa 7-7-4. Toronto 6-9-4. Florida 8-8-2. Montreal 5-6-7. A big pool of mediocre results, across the whole Atlantic.

  15. I've been pleasantly surprised by the Bruins so far this season. The future looks bright too with prospects such as Hagens, Letourneau, and Zellers doing well in the NCAA right now.

  16. I was ripped by people bc I commented before the season saying the Bruins were better than people were giving them credit for, especially if our guys could come in healthy and back in full form. But even then I said they “might squeak into a wild card spot”

  17. Got to enjoy this while we can. They just brought up Tufte and Blumel. Tough to see Arvidsson go down. In that behind the B episode where he's talking in the locker room about taking too many penalties you can see that he is one of the leaders. Going to game Friday vs LA going to be disappointing not to see Mcavoy
