Penguins trust their gut, challenge for goalie interference on Brodin goal
Watch as the Pittsburgh Penguins make the right call to challenge the Minnesota Wild’s’ first goal by Jonas Brodin. The decision was to overturn the goal due to Mikko Koivu coming in contact with Casey DeSmith.
if people watched the same video i did koivu kicks the goalies stick away from the five hole where the puck went throu to score i dont understand the confusion hes in the crease interfering with the goalies stick
Not sure why you would call that goalie interference. Of course, his (DeSmith's) stick was moved, but it isn't needed to stop a shot aimed at the five hole.
Desmith looks like he hurt pretty bad, I hope hes ok, at least they did not have to carry him off the ice with a stretcher. Put my sarcasm to the side, now that I get a better look at it might actually be interference .
I watch almost every pens game and I know Sullivan likes to challenge these more than most, but I was shocked he challenged this one. That’s by far the softest one I’ve seen called back. Not one Penguin went to the ref. That was rob rossi level of cringe awful
Does anyone know what the exact definition of goalie interference is according to the NHL? I can't trust myself to say what is goalie interference or what isn't anymore. These inconsistent goalie interference penalties have been going on longer, than the recent frequency of the maple leafs getting called weird goalie interference penalties. I would say for a couple of years now. However their has been more confusion this year about this penalty than others.
How is this not goaltender interference? DeSmiths stick was taken out, so he couldn’t stop the puck in the five hole; interferon with his ability to stop the puck. (That’s the definition of goaltender interference)

I've never understood why players can't stick check goalies

That's more interference than the one they stole from Matthews against the Avs.
As a pens fan, this is not interference
wait let me get this straight the one in toronto was fine but not this ? what is going on in the nhl
Refs: Ok Pittsburgh's challenging so what we have to look at is if Koivu is breathing. If he is therefore no goal
ZOOMS IN ON KOIVU
Refs: HE'S BREATHING!!!!!!!!!!! NO GOAL!!!!!!
Boudreau: WTF
Does anyone at all have any idea what goalie interference is/isn't? Anyone at all?
Sorry, trust their gut? You mean trust in the corrupt officials?
That was pretty blatant interference
Wow we looked awful. But it's all good. I'd rather have a bad loss now than after the break
After seeing two blatant actual interference being waved off (Tampa/Preds, Toronto/Hawks) this is a absolute joke that this one gets called off. Lol
If that was a goal, how this game could've changed…

2:14 hehehe
Penguins are 5 million poorer
Another day, another bullshit call. Lost for words at this point….
These rules are ruining the game.
A kid can make a better decision that whoever is making these decisions.

DeSmith didn't even realize he'd been interfered with… that's how ridiculous this is getting now
If this doesn't count then why does the one in Chicago count?
LOOOOOOOOOL
Lol c'mon really? The goalie has to be better than that. That's just ridiculous
Goaltender indifference? On the blow? That's one nervous ref
He did it like 47 years before the puck got to the net
