  1. Hey Shannon, just wanted to say, ā€œstay out of our laneā€. I express this as a Calgary Flames fan. All kidding aside, your talking points are so similar to what folks in Flames Nation are saying. Particularly the lack of high end talent. Fortunately for the team tank approach, Calgary is in last place. However, again like the Canucks, even if they do finish last, there is no chance they win the Mclottery and draft Gavin. But, even drafting third will be the highest in franchise history, so maybe that’s the silver lining? I’ll be ok as long as the Oilers don’t win and McDavid leaves the Pacific

  2. Negative rep -> no one wants to play in vancouver -> it costs more to get anyone -> you get worse players -> hard to win -> negative rep.
Its why the full rebuild option keeps getting thrown in; trying to break that cycle.

  3. To expand on the NMC, it is even more binding than an NTC. That means that the player can’t be sent to the minors (to get them to agree to leave), or be made available in an expansion draft. Reportedly, Doug Armstrong, has gotten rid of a couple of players with NTCs by threatening to move them to the minors.

  4. I've been a Canucks fan my whole life (30). Every year 2011 gets further and further away and the team just continues to spin its wheels. So far I've watched 1 Canucks game this year – I never thought I would have such an apathy towards this team, but here I am

  5. The Canucks played Carolina (top 6 in the league, tbh) to a draw. Without Hughes. Without Demko. Trade Hughes now for young roster players and picks. Buyout or encourage Demko to retire (LTIR?). Rebuild around veterans Boeser, garland, Petey, Hronek, Sherwood. Dump Meyers and Kane.

  6. Need a new owner and upper management. Rutherford has been done for years, Allvin is a clown. The roster is awful, you can't look at the team they put on the ice and expect them to win

  7. I'll bet a left nut that the Sabres and the Canucks are in the same Stanley cup series together. Only one will thrive.. the other only heartbreak

  8. This is the year to trade out Hughes but we all know ownership will hold onto him and let him walk just for the outside chance of limping into the playoffs.

  9. Do you think they'd hire me having 0 experience? I wouldn't give more then 4 years and 0 no movement clauses. If you dont like it, go pound sand…

  10. Hah, I see that you read my comment at 15:10 – hey i'm not Canucks fan, I'm a Habs fan, with your apparently disliked Penguins #2 and Edmonton #3 (I also am a masochist).

  11. I think what's hurting the canucks and some other struggling team's is that their pride is getting in the away of doing whatt's best for the team. The execs don't want to admit they need a rebuild or a change in leadership and no not just the coach they'd rather spin their wheels trying to fix the car even though there's so many problems that everyone else can see it's beyond repair. And the ones they end up hurting the most are their fans and players, fans don't get the joy of a succesful team and players waste precious career years trying to save a sinking ship. So yeah I totally get why the Canucks are a team players might not be thrilled with playing for.

  12. I recommend trading Hughes, just like i recommended trading Petey, before he got the bag (i knew he would have chronic injuries that would devastate his production. Two reasons, one he is not going to sign with the Canucks and two he is starting to have chronic injuries just like Petey and Demko. They could get a massive haul if they trade him now and could some what make up for his inevitable loss. There is no way you are ever going to get a player like him to replace him, so this is just softening the blow of losing him. This would allow them to get some center prospects and some good picks, but the longer they wait the less they get in return. They should do it now and get on with the re tool.

  13. Start and end with 'they are not good enough' – pisses me off still all these years later that management did not listen to Linden and allow for an actual rebuild. This middling stuff never going to change with current ownership. Say goodbye to Quinn, hope they fleece some team who desperately wants him

  14. As an Oilers fan you guys taking Kane for nothing was a godsend. For the Oilers the only contract I hate is Frederick’s so far haven’t seen much out of him and honestly if Rolslovic had Fredricks contract I’d be over the dang moon.

I do have to add all the complaints from the ā€œfansā€ after every game the Oilers do it as well. I still watch the games but I will not go online to talk about it especially with Oilers fans.

  15. If you are talking Canucks big picture and not talking about their lack of physicality and organization with their down low defence … then you missing the point most obvious gap. They are horrible at defending their own crease area. B-R-U-T-A-L

  16. THG – are all of the worst ideas and decisions coming from Aquilini and every Canucks GM has mostly been a puppet? Without any insider knowledge, it sure seems like the delusional thinking and bonehead decisions have not been limited to just one or two GMs.

  17. Vancouver itself along with the Canucks are full of toxicity, but they can't see it with their psychological blindspot

  18. It just sucks because Benning did a horrible job drafting Virtanen, Juolevi and Podkolzin. If we had Nylander, Tkachuk and Boldy instead, we’d be cup contenders. There is no need to rebuild, just keep your picks and draft better. The Dallas Stars got Johnston and Stankoven in one draft for example

  19. If the canucks are going to do that slow ot play where they try to tire out the defenders, atleast do it right. Go in with speed, tire them out fast then you'll have more time in the offensive zone.

  20. I've been cheering / watching Canucks hockey since the early 1980s as a kid. I have accepted the reality that I will likely never see a parade on Robson St. I do enjoy watching them play, and that is just it. As each season ends, the next year is very predictable. To quote Todd B, it just is what it is.

  21. Jesus they just give everyone a NMC in Vancouver? Why the hell do depth players have no movement clauses?

  22. Apathy is right. Im just watching the Canucks this year for the pure comedy gold.
Its hilarious watching ep40 like new born baby trying to hold his head up or his legs wobbling underneath him then falling down. Hahaha comedy gold.
Watching chaos reign on the ice night after night for the Canucks as they struggle and try hard to be something. Hahaha it's hilarious.
Looking at Hughes just pissed off each and every game probably thinking in his head " i can't wait to be off the f'en team".
Aqua and Alvin and Rutherford discussing amongst each other. "Let's get more Europeans, that might work" hahaha
Meanwhile the Vancouver Canucks getting beat up every night by teams with more north American players because the NHL is a north American game. Hahaha. Makes sense right?
    Its comedy gold.

  23. The stats seem to say we need more defence not offence. Without adjusting for # games played, Canucks are tied for last (with Edmonton) in the division for goals against and third for goals for.
