Bedard, Celebrini, Carlsson: the NHL’s new superstars have arrived

All you have to do is look at the NHL’s list of leading point scorers to know the future of the league is here. Alongside the Nathan MacKinnon’s, the Jack Eichel’s, and the Connor McDavid’s are a trio of young stars named Connor Bedard, Macklin Celebrini, and Leo Carlsson, who are not only putting up big point totals to start the year, but also putting their skills on display on a nightly basis. On today’s episode, the guys discuss the excitement surrounding this injection of new hockey talent, as well as what it means for the future of the Blackhawks, Sharks, and Ducks. Plus, The Athletic’s Jeremy Rutherford joins the show to talk about the quickly developing disaster in St. Louis for the Blues and The Athletic’s Peter Baugh helps close things out with a conversation about the state of the Metro division.

  1. Ducks also have $14.5 million in cap space. They have contracts that will be ending, but if they are definitely a strong playoff contender this season they can make some serious moves for D-men or whatever they will need most.

  2. Remember how pissed everyone was when the Ducks drafted Carlsson over Fantilli? Turns out, the people who do this professionally might know a little better than the fans

  3. I dont want any Ducks fans celebrating the early season success after they swore off Q and were saying they'd stop supporting the team.

  4. I think in Ducks its worth mentioning some other young guys, sennecke gauthier mctav zellweger all have a high celing i belive, especially sennecke and gauthier, the potential on yhat team is insane, will most likely not afford to keep them all tho 😥

  5. not knocking the kid at all, but celebrini is not on a 10 game point streak. he's on a 3 game point streak right now. 0:41

  6. Guy just skipped over the Detroit game I guess lol. I’m a sharks fan but cmon, what are we doing here?

  7. I think what excites me most about Celebrini and the Sharks is the quality of opponent they've been besting recently. Avs, Devils, Jets, etc. They are above .500 and have faced one of the toughest Strength of Schedules in the league so far. For context the rest of the way we have the 30th SOS. Could be a special campaign if they keep it up

  8. The crazy thing is Bedard is doing this still with 3rd and 4th liners just wait until he plays with Frondell and Kantserov

  9. If only they did this after the ducks vs jets. Leo scored 2 more goals. Hes on an absolute heater. He lead the team on this 7-8 game win streak. Against playoff teams and back to back cup winners.

  10. Next 10-15 years in the West is gonna be fun to watch and ultra competitive. Celebrini/Smith, Bedard/Nazr, Carlsson/Gauthier, and all the other prospects coming up for each organization. Utah is pretty young and tough too.

  11. As a hawks fan..i love the fact all 3 players are doing well ! Cant wait to see these guys play for the next 15 yrs..they are all good

  12. Hold on why are you talking like the Hawks don’t have a good team? They might be the most dangerous young team in hockey and they’re just ramping up. Not to mention Spencer Knight
