Captain just look closely how you drifted slowmo to the net completely covered by D while mich try to set you up. Then you seem annoyed by his play. Drop the C, retire you just hurt the team. Yiu just not a captain type of person actually
Is this seriously what the media is running with? "Calling out Michkov"? There's nothing controversial here at all.
If he used a baseball analogy, it would be, "it's not realistic to expect to hit a HR every game. Because of that, you need to know how to hit singles, draw walks, and run the bases." That's what makes you a consistent player and the team harder to play against.
That sounded a little beechy. He could’ve highlighted more of the positives than criticising Mitch in the open like that. Sign of a bad communicator / leader
I think Couturier's comments here should absolutely have stayed in the room. No need to share even a hint of displeasure with a teammate — especially a player on whom the future of the franchise depends — with press. It will only end badly for all involved, regardless of how it was intended.
I see comments online that many fans are upset about this. What I would ask people to consider is this: Do you think Claude Giroux would have ever shown even a hint of disdain (at least publicly) for a highly skilled young player who is developing? No way! I guarantee it. And yet, for years, Giroux was unfairly called a "bad captain" by many in the press and the fanbase. So… what does that make Couturier? Food for thought!
Good thing Pat Brisson is a super agent, because we're going to need the best in the business to move this guy's contract. I think Couturier seems like a good guy, but it just doesn't make sense for a myriad of reasons to have him taking up a roster spot until 2030. And for his own sake, it would be nice if he had a shot to actually win before he retires. He should waive his NMC.
EDIT: I rephrased the first sentence of my comment. After reflecting on this whole situation throughout the day, I've gotta say I found Couturier's comments and demeanor during and after the game to be incredibly off-putting.
To be frank, if ANY players in the room have a problem with Michkov — specifically an unwarranted problem that he did nothing to earn, out of some sense of jealousy of his perceived status in the eyes of the org or even the fans — I want those players gone. It's unprofessional to think that way, and also it's loser thinking. They can get the fuck out. Gone, gone, gone. I mean it. Don't care who it is. Goodbye! We won't miss you.
I want winners here, with elite skill and a winning mentality — and guys who see the value in having a teammate like Michkov. Don't want grown men who are jealous like little children, IF that is what is happening.

Sports media like political media clearly insane.

How stupid do you have to be to think this is a "call out" and then write about it ?
I can't see where he called him out at all!? If anything he's complimented him on marked defensive improvements.
