I’m a big time hockey fan and I like to watch leafs games because of their raw talent with guys like Matthews snd Nylander, but the 90-100 point Mitch Marner is a tough spot to fill that they didn’t fill.
I’ll always be a leafs fan, but it’s been a long time since I’ve been this uninterested in the team. They’re awful to watch, and there’s nothing that has been inspiring about them.
They will make the playoffs but you lost some character guys IMO. Trades as soon as possible. Can you get Ryan O’Reilly from Nashville? For example? They are awful. Also the Rangers will make moves too as they look about the same as the Leafs
Why do you think they will make it? The reason I ask is because without Marner they don’t have the excess talent to absorb either a significant loss or slumps, so I would like to hear where your optimism comes from

No, they're not going to miss the playoffs. Any mediocre team makes the cut, given that 50% of the league makes the cut into the playoffs. That doesn't make the Leafs a good team, it just makes them mediocre. And that's enough in this league.

Low Quality Bruins Fan mentioned that the leafs advanced stat predictions (big grain of salt) have been almost spot on, but only because the they’ve been scoring more and stopping less so the outcomes are as predicted, but not how they get there lol
The Leafs are only five points out of first place in the Atlantic Division — that context matters. There’s a ton of parity in the Eastern Conference right now, so it’s not as bad as it looks. (From a Habs fan.)
