Their defence is deplorable, but I have been saying for years when the puck is in their zone the leafs must get it out of that zone in less than 10 seconds anyway they have to
The Leafs are so bad. They really look amateurish. For example, the defence panics too easily; they are slow to react; slow to move; and too many go after the puck allowing the opposition to be open. The offence had some excellent goals – good passing (tic-tac-toe sort of goals), but look how often they allowed opposition breakaways (no anticipation, no coverage, and mindless giveaways). They also have a tendency to panic, shooting directly at the goalie, no coordinated passing and one-timer shots. If this team doesn't practice the rudimentary way of playing, they won't make the playoffs or they will be eliminated in the first round. They should never have traded Mariner. He was fast and a great play-maker. They also need to be faster, especially the defence.

There is something fundamentally wrong with this team. Sure, there are a few trying on offence, but overall, the team is pitiful on defence. They don’t anticipate and seem listless like they have a permanent case of flu. I don’t see a willingness to push themselves.
