  1. Spectator sports…

I like how they're really nothing more than paid performers. When he stops scoring goals, time to put him down!

  2. Stammer wanted too much money, so yes, tampa made a good decision for them. But the preds were the worst decision, because nothing about that team is a good fit for him… if he'd signed in colorado, dallas, or anywhere with a good offensive 1c he'd be fine.

  3. Hiring Andrew Brunette as head coach was, in my opinion, the worst decision! He’s a coach with a bad system and poor goalie management. This guy practically destroyed Bobrovsky’s career when he was in Florida and what happened after he got fired? Bobrovsky went back to being the dominant goalie he once was, and Florida won two straight Stanley Cups.

  4. It’s speaks to the Andrew Brunette system, and how Stammer is not the right type of player for this system. He still has an All World shot and can really skate. He plays sort of a “pretty”, finesse style. He’s not gonna lay the body and dig pucks out of the corners. He’s also still a great leader, on and off the ice. Tampa wasn’t right or wrong. It’s about how he fits into the style and coaching system being forced onto a team full of elite snipers. It’s the same reason O’Reilly hasn’t worked out, although he’s a different type of player altogether.

  5. He’s not playing with one of the best power play units anymore. That’s been the difference. Otherwise, he’d probably be scoring at or near his point per game average.
NOTE: I didn’t do any research before making this comment. I’m just giving my opinion based on my 30 + years of experience playing and watching hockey. So, no bashing please.

  6. If he stayed with tb, he would have put up better numbers. Look at taveras. U put taveras on Nashville. He would be worse than stamkoa.

  7. Point per game, point per game… Half of those points were in PP with Kucherov and everyone with brains understood that. I mean – even I who is not great at predicting understood that.

Tampa offered a very good contract for Stamkos and were absolutely right not to go for anything more. He should have agreed to that and possibly Kucherov would give hime a couple of more good enough seasons.

  8. Stamkos has always been a good player surrounded by exceptional talent. Nashville simply does not have the same caliber of talent that Tampa has had, nor are they offensively elite. I think he was going to decline regardless, but going to Nashville was going to expose that way worse.

  9. I know he’s not as high a profile player as Stamkos is but bringing in Marshy from the VGK the same off season Is the exact same thing a player that led his team to a cup . But is clearly on the backside of his career his production is down and I belive Marshy is signed through 2029? Something crazy like that.

  10. Remember the tense contract negotiations with GM Yzerman? Of course they resigned but I think that was a clue.

  11. Hes an aging sniper….you build the line around getting the puck to him, open. Wtf you think would happen to Ovi if Caps booted him off. The chemistry of his play for the last decade would be ruined.

  12. Well he also had kucherov, point, hagel to play with lmao. All Nashville has is Forsberg

  13. He's not surrounded by the same type of players. Different chemistry, different results. Still, he should be scoring a bit more on his own

  14. Steven Stamkos has always been an in spite of player since he entered the league. He’s above average at nothing apart from his shot and goal scoring abilities. He requires high level skill players next to him get space, he cannot create on his own.

Coming into the league he played with Martin St. louis and Vincent Lecavalier who were both incredible setup guys. Then played with Kuch when they left every year up until 2017-2018 when he played on the 2nd line the majority of the year away from Kuch and put up 27 goals in 78 games. He’s always been this way. He’s really good at scoring goals but requires other guys to produce. He wanted line driving money from Tampa and they didn’t want to give it to him.

Him and Forsberg are both shoot first guys so they rarely if ever play with eachother. Nashville doesn’t have anywhere to put him. He’s overrated and always has been individual talent wise though. He’s just always been next to superstars. His production fell off a cliff in Tampa just the same when he got moved around.

  15. Stamkos is perfect example of how hard it is to be Ovechkin. This guy is 5 years younger and won’t reach even 700
