Tanev leaves on a stretcher after hit by Michkov – Tough Call Review

Chris Tanev was taken off on a stretcher after being hit from behind by Matvei Michkov. Michkov was given an interference minor penalty.

  1. Not sure if it was dirty. But he definitely didn’t try to avoid it. He was standing his ground. Unfortunate I guess

  2. Michkov could of faking it and making it look like he did tried to avoid but it hard to judge. He did hit right in back of tanev.. accident or not i feel it could avoided differently

  3. Your review is terrible. They were both looking back at the puck and neither saw each other. Its incidental contact there is no check and there should not be an additional 4 minute penalty. Even the 2 minute penalty is a stretch because it was incidental. Just another crybaby trying to ruin the game

  4. Judging by his skates and shoulder he was trying to avoid Tanev he almost leaned away from the hit rather then throwing his whole body into it. Im a long time canucks fan so i love Tanev, But this was not meant to be an intent to injure at all.

  5. Leafs fan here. I don’t blame Michkov here. It clearly wasn’t intentional. He wasn’t even looking at Tanev, Tanev zigged backwards without looking and they ran into each other. The outcome was bad for Tanev, but it’s just one of those things that happens

  6. 1. It wasn't intentional
    2. I wish Tanev a speedy recovery
    3. I think Tanev needs to consider Robidas Island if that's all it takes to put you in the hospital. An actual intentional hit could render him unable to hold a spoon never mind a hockey stick

  7. Oh fuck did you see his head jiggle. 😮😮😮 oh fuck he ain't going to be the same after that one 😢

  8. This is definitely one of those it's worse than it looks kinda incidents. I'm not arguing that Michkov was being malicious or dirty. I had to find real-time footage to see if it was the speed that it happened at. I wouldn't have expected Tanev to need a stretcher for that, I hope he's going to be okay. We miss him in Vancouver.

  9. Michkov should have been suspended for several games. He has little man syndrome. Its symptom is acting sneaky from behind. 🤡

  10. At one time this wouldn't have even been called for the X, hit looked clean, Michkov was just skating his route and didn't seem to be intent there… but still. I agree about the check from behind minor. Both guys had a lapse in spatial awareness and it led to a scary moment. I am not an "old time hockey" partisan but I can sort of get the POV that younger players don't know how to avoid/minimize/absorb hits because they don't allow checking in youth hockey (15U in CA and 12U in USA last I knew) so it is never learned by the kids these days. Hate to see it happen to Tanev, all the best to him and hopefully they were just being overly cautious.

  11. Tanev brought this all upon himself. He's the one who skated into the Philly player. Leafs suck. lol. Hopefully not too serious an injury. GO HABS!

  12. It wasn't intentional and I'm sure Michkov felt terrible you can even see him looking down at him right after to see if he's okay before other buddy hops in. I get it defend your teammates but I'm sure Michkov genuinely felt like bad

  13. No wonder this guy has so few subs.
He goes on about a distinction without a difference.

It's FOOLISHLY SILLY to think that just by calling it a 2min check from behind, it's going to make a difference then calling it a 2min interference. That's just dopey.
