Since October 15, Kapanen has been the top Hab with 58.3% in faceoffs, while Dach has 51.1%. Suzuki 51.5%. Evans 56.8%
Of players with 10 NHL games, Kapanen is 13th in the NHL in Pts/60 min on Even str. Kapanen is just ahead of Bedard, Celebrini, Stutzle, Scheifele & Mackinnon. *Newhook 26th, Demidov 40th & Dach 49th.
The Montreal Canadiens should shop around Newhook in a package for a 2C… Value for Newhook will never be as high as right now !… What's your offer ?
Slaf is ahead of HuGo's 5 year vision for him.
Veleno had a good game. Kappy keeps scoring and Monty found a grove finally! Good night all around.
Gotta say, im so glad a lot of analysts were wrong about Kapanen, so far he’s showing a lot more potential than “4th line center at best” and no its not only because of Demidov.
Newhook also is playing great hockey, he uses his shot with so much more confidence than last season. Combined these three guys are the closest we’ve had in years to a legit 2nd line, they just need to prove they can do that long term.
Still i would prefer finding a better established 2C, have Demidov on line 1 and make a solid 3rd line with Kap/Newhook and whoever else, possibly Bolduc ?
But that’s in dreamland as long as we dont have that mythological 2C.
Kapanen is the NHL's top rookie goal scorer and faceoff percentage among rookies who have taken 60+ faceoffs.
Finally we start realizing that Dvorak was way better than Evans, and just replacing Dvorak with Evans of the « veteran » line and hoping for the same result was a poor reasoning. The Kapanen line would do a better job of handling top lines than this line, with their speed and puck control.
The whole 2nd line is among the top 40 players in the NHL in even-strength points/60 minutes. Kapanen 13th, Newhook 26th and Demidov 40th !!!! Dach 49th.
Of NHL defensemen with 10 NHL games, Noah Dobson is 2nd in the NHL in Points/60 minutes on even strength. Cale Makar is 1st. Alexandre Carrier is 15th, Lane Hutson is 19th & Mike Matheson 25th.
Le Mammouth
There's a parallel universe where Schaefer slows down (which is already kind of the case) and Demidov gets ignored unfortunately because he's russian (they are still banned from the Olympics, politically talking they won't want him to win the Calder) and that Kapanen just comes in and scoops it
He's VERY underrated, he already plays like a Veteran, show me a single clip where he gets caught doing something dumb, it never happens
Put a couple of poppies on, guys.
We’re so god damn good Tuesday feels like a month away
I think a 2c is in the making with Kappy. If an upgrade is needed, Habs have the money and the time. Great to see Dach rebounding, really impressive goal last night in break away. He's a talented player who has simply had bad luck. Fun and somewhat frustrating game to watch last night.
Veleno has to find a way to fit in.
The way Anderson reacted towards the non call is showing up the ref. As a veteran he absolutely needs to play to the whistle.
ALEX NEWHOOK and OLIVER KAPANEN babysit IVAN DEMIDOV in the DEFENSIVE ZONE
My moto has always been “Good teams are tough to beat”.. sounds simple but it checks out..
I don not think the habs need to acquire any players, Change veleno for Davidson and let it ride.
.
Agree 100% with Marco. Now is the time to learn what the Kapanen and Dach lines are capable of.
The team is first in the Atlantic and had a good night last night and d’amico “looking one step further” and pointing out negative after negative made me turn this off
I think Shaun Starr is the Rod Langway Fan Club.
I agree Demidov needs to play more, but we all did this last year w Hutson and by game 25 it was no longer a topic. For two decades we watched the Habs throw guys into the league to watch their careers died. Surely we have the patience of 25-30 games with star rookies. Especially since they’re in 1st place.
McLean's!
