The Los Angeles Kings have made a move to bolster their goaltending depth. After losing him on waivers, the Kings traded for veteran netminder Pheonix Copley from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Copley, a familiar face to the organization, will serve as the team’s third-string goalie.
With Darcy Kuemper and Anže Kopitar dealing with lower-body injuries, the Kings needed an experienced backup. Copley’s impressive record with the Kings, including a 28-7-5 record and a .897 SV%, makes him a valuable addition.
Despite being rostered with the Lightning, Copley hadn’t seen any game action. The Kings’ acquisition of Copley is a strategic move, especially with Anton Forsberg set to start against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
